Gina, It’s incumbent upon the SSA to process and grant disability hearings. It can take up to a year. Mine had to be fully vetted by my attorneys (who are working on a contingency fee - if I don’t win, they don’t get paid - 25% of the back-end - and they think it’s a slam-dunk based on SSA disability guidelines for several reasons), all paperwork in place, all of my medical records mined, and the legal eagles making sure all of the I’s were dotted and T’s were crossed, before it met bureaucratic muster and they could put in in the hopper under the status of ‘ready for scheduling’. Now I have to go before a federal Rent-A-Quack at a board hearing to show that my physical limitations are such that I am unable to take a regular job based on my education and skills, even with EEOD and ADA protections and accomodations. Hard to believe that even eight years ago, I was lifting fifty pound servers and climbing ladders 20 feet up to do network cabling and not break a sweat. Now I can barely navigate a half flight of stairs, and have multiple x-rays to prove it. After all this waiting, mountains of paperwork, and supplicating myself to every power that be, I get a date and suddenly it gets put on hold because my ambulance chaser doesn’t have room on his dinner card that day?????????? Add that to everything else and ask me why I haven’t lost my shit and just performed a little urban renewal for the good of the Republic. A comeuppance in some form is pending.
Ah, okay! NOW I remember you telling us about that.
