Sixteen-year-old Sadie Earegood has turned to local police with the claim that her teacher recently ripped a “Women for Trump” pin off her chest.
The high school junior told a local NBC affiliate in Mason, Michigan, that teacher Paul Kato couldn’t agree to disagree upon seeing her political pin on Dec. 5.
“I was just really shocked that a teacher would especially do that,” she told the station on Monday. “He’s talking about the ‘Women for Trump’ pin and I said, ‘That’s fine you don’t have to like it, we can have our opinions.’ “
Sadie said it wasn’t long before Mr. Kato had wrestled control of the pin and put in on his own body — upside down.
“He grabbed it and I pulled and I tried to push his hand away and he grabbed my shoulder, just kind of put his hand there, and then he started pulling more and more and I just started backing up,” she said. “I just want him to know that it’s not OK to do that.”
Mason Superintendent Ronald Drzewicki told the station that “appropriate action” would be taken once they obtain more details on the incident.
Capi Earegood, the student’s mother, said a “criminal assault and larceny” report was filed against the teacher, and Mason Police Chief Don Hanson confirmed that his department is investigating the matter.

Finding a job as a teacher after a felony count of assaulting one of your students by trying to explain it to a prospective employer, will be a tough hill to climb.
Untreated and/or unresolved mental health issues caused him to lose his temper and control and ruin his educator career over a trivial political pin.

The student, on the other hand, will come out of this financially well off for his momentary loss of judgement and petulant behavior outburst.

I’m worried this story is disappearing down the memory hole. Neither of the two Detroit papers have touched it. Can you imagine the furor if a white teacher had grabbed a Black Lives Matter button off the chest of a black girl. One of the local TV station websites has run a puff piece about how the students are shocked and don’t believe that Mr. Kato would do such a thing. Here’s a fact for you. Malcom X attended Mason High School. He told a counselor there that he wanted to be a lawyer. The counselor told him it would be more realistic to be a carpenter. There is a plaque in the school commerating Malcom X’s attendance at MHS.

If it were my daughter Mr. kato would live a very very uncomfortable life wondering when he would get his punishment. I would never let him forget that I have never forgotten or forgiven.
