Actress Sally Field was arrested Friday on the steps of the U.S. Capitol as she joined Jane Fonda and labor activists to protest the harmful effects of climate change on workers.
The demonstration, led by Fonda for a 10th consecutive week, resulted in 26 arrests, according to Capitol Police.
I come with my heart and my voice, Field said at the protest. I am a mother. I am a grandmother. The time is now. We cannot sit back in our comfort zones, on our couches, and wonder, what can we do? We can get out, we can do something.
Fonda, who credits Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg as the inspiration for the weekly "Fire Drill Friday" protests, highlighted how climate change will force workers and industries to make significant changes.
Today we're going to focus on jobs, communities, and a just transition, a critical part of the fight for new green jobs," she said. "Many people don't know what we mean by just transitions the climate emergency requires us to rapidly transition transform our energy system and key industrial sectors in ways that protect workers and impacted communities.
A spokesperson for Fonda, who spent a night in jail after being arrested at an earlier climate protest in D.C., said she decided not to put herself in a position to be arrested this week so as to avoid a 30-day jail sentence.

Hysterical. Old bats getting arrested like college students.
Toss her in the slammer and throw away the key?
Forget that. Perfect time to ransack their houses while they are gone.
First it was unions, then there was an energy crisis and we were gonna freeze, now there’s too much oil and we’re gonna burn up. Never happy.
to protest the harmful effects of climate change on workers.
*******
What does that mean???
“Guess Jane doesnt really have the courage of her convictions after all. What a joke...”
She called in Dingbat II to take the arrest and they shared the spotlight. Anything for attention, and this how they have to get it these days.
Ha ha.
She was very unlikable in Mrs. Doubtfire. Maybe she was playing herself in that movie.
Two washed up old hag actors trying to stay in the news.
I said that recently, i said they let her play her true self.
Good phrase, someone needs to start selling “Liberal Dipshits for Trump” hats.
Jane Fonda used to hang out with Jim Jones. I wonder if Sally Field's was a member of the People's Temple.
How pathetic is this?
If these aging stars aren’t busy trying to look “ageless”, they act like ignorant 20-somethings in order to stay revelant in their shallow little worlds.
It’s sad. 60s, 70s, 80s.. how old is Hanoi Jane these days. But anyway, all those years to change into something nice, wasted.
Well tomorrow is another day..
Look at the smile on Norma Rae’s face there. She knows getting arrested as a celebrity in DC is basically a free gourmet meal and signing autographs.
Even better, let some of the homeless move into these celebrities homes, after all celebrities claim they care about the folks, let the homeless move in
She is such a childish attention grabbing fool.
Looks like she has morphed into Elton John. Hah
who are unfamiliar with Hanoi Jane
= = =
One day, at a urinal (a Male urinal to be clear) on a Military installation, I had the privilege to pee on Hanoi Jane.
I wished I had more ‘resources,’ but was ‘exhausted.’
One of my best pee’s.
In the future, if I ever get close to McCain’s grave, my zipper better not get stuck.
How about a Hanoi Jane sticker on McCain’s tombstone?
Superfund site = = =
I wonder if they kept their jet engines running for their return to happy land..
Sally Field... I can’t help but think of just how many of her “acclaimed” movie performances pretty much consisted of her hysterically crying her way through the film. Her performances in “Sybil” and “Not Without My Daughter” come specifically to mind.
Boo hoo hoo nonstop for over two hours...
