Kentucky Governor Pardons State’s Worst Offenders
CNS News ^ | 12/12/19 | Hans Bader

In his last days in office, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin pardoned some of Kentucky’s worst murderers. Among those he released from prison was a convicted killer whose brother was a big campaign donor.

Such pardons will incite more crimes, because studies show that harsh penalties deter and prevent crime, especially murder.

Obviously this governor is getting huge donations from the gun industry, based on how many guns they will be selling to those frightened of having violent felon criminals on the streets.

However, their state house is just five short of having a 2/3rds Republican majority, and the senate definitely has a 2/3rds majority.

So they could strip the governor of the right to pardon unless the pardons were first vetted by someone responsible.

And they could clearly declare that anyone convicted of a felony crime could still not have their right to vote restored.

Is this why pickpockets worked the crowd at the guillotine, and the penalty for pickpocketing was the guillotine.

You’re only hearing one side of the story. It’s all I’ve heard as well, But I’m withholding judgment until I hear the other side.

“Beavis” Bevin has always been one of the dumbest Republicans. Georgia’s Kemp is a close second.

Kentucky voters, “I know that Bevin is a conservative; but I don’t like him so I’m voting for a socialist to fix Bevin’s wagon, by golly.”

I’m starting to understand why Republicans won every other election in Kentucky except the Governorship.

Get caught, go right to the chopping block; no trial and jail to go thru.

“In all, the former governor signed off on 428 pardons and commutations since his loss to Democrat Andy Beshear, according to The Courier-Journal. The paper notes, “The beneficiaries include one offender convicted of raping a child, another who hired a hit man to kill his business partner and a third who killed his parents.” “

“.....Micah Schoettle. He’s a 41-year-old convicted of raping a 9-year-old child last year. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison, according to the Courier-Journal.

In his pardon order, Bevin wrote, “Micah Schoettle was tried and convicted of a heinous crime based only on testimony that was not supported by any physical evidence.”

He added: “This case was investigated and prosecuted in a manner that was sloppy at best. I do not believe that the charges against Mr. Schoettle are true.”

Bevin commuted Schoettle’s sentenced to time served and ordered a full and unconditional pardon....”

Yeah, source is NPR, but facts are facts.

“That man’s family raised more than $20,000 at a political fundraiser to help Bevin pay off a debt owed from his 2015 gubernatorial campaign.”

$20,000 to be pardoned for a murder conviction?

That’s cheap, very cheap.

If one is going to be selling pardons for murder, I would advise nothing less than $250,000.

“But I’m withholding judgment until I hear the other side.”

I don’t think you will be hearing anything from the other side, as the folks on the ‘other side’ were murdered and their killer was pardoned.

Bevin has good points and bad points. One of his bad points is being politically stupid. He’ll end up doing time for selling pardons. The new governor will see that he is destroyed.

Pitiful ‘reasoning’ for this disgusting pardon.

Please tell me what would convince you that someone who rapes children should be pardoned.
