Livestock production needs to reach its peak within the next decade in order to tackle the climate emergency, scientists have warned.
They are calling for governments in all but the poorest countries to set a date for peak meat because animal agriculture is a significant and fast-growing source of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Cattle and sheep emit large amounts of methane while forests are destroyed to create pasture and grow the grains that are fed to intensively reared animals.
The worlds scientists agree that huge amounts of carbon dioxide will have to be removed from the atmosphere to limit global heating to 1.5C. More than 80% of farmland is used for livestock but it produces just 18% of food calories.

[[Scientists who do not know forest thrive on CO2.]]
Scary isn’t it? When even their ‘experts’ hide basic facts just to support an idiotic agenda-
Don’t forget the tackling hit lists, like the ones that unscrupulous pro football teams carry around.
This time of year is a dream for carnivores. Most stores have great deals. I bought a Prime NY Strip roast for $5.99 a pound today. Prime!
Exactly. “Science” is transient.
[[To be fair to the issue-one day a Beyond Meat type product will be just as good as the real thing. That day is close to arriving. Should make for much more affordable beef-like food.
I have heard the burgers from plants taste pretty good.]]
Enjoy your heavily genetically modified impossible burgers-
Needs a lot of work still. Tried the impossible Burger. But to test the actual flavor I had with meat and cheese no condiments. Taste like crap, I suspect it taste like meat to people because of the condiments
It is unlikely I will be on earth by 2030, so I will have to do my part to reach peak meat. Accordingly, Christmas dinner will be a prime rib slow roasted over hickory. I will attempt to expand my contribution by over the years by BBQ/Smoking whenever I get the chance.
I wouldn’t feed lefty “scientists” to my dog.
They are just too toxic.
Yes, back then the liberal 'elite' liars told us oil would run out in the United States in the 1970's According to democrats we ran out of oil 50 years ago... Some day in the future people will laugh about idiots who pushed 'global warming'..
https://www.quora.com/How-did-M-King-Hubbert-predict-the-oil-peak
from link:
M. King Hubbert was a brilliant scientist and mathematician who worked for Shell and later the USGS. He had a different viewpoint than nearly every other geologist and engineer when, in 1956, he predicted that the U.S., then the world's leading oil producer, would attain maximum oil production capability around 1970. That peak would be followed by an inexorable decline. (It was a startling prediction because at the time many states curtailed production to prevent waste and hold up the market price.)
I thought the world was going to end in 2030 so will peak meat be reach before the world ends or the day the world ends.
I really think we need to reach peak fart. If we got rid of a the farting vegans, wouldn’t that save the world?
And those grasslands had massive herds of buffalo on them.
In 1962, Hubbert predicted that world oil production would peak at a rate of 12.5 billion barrels per year, around the year 2000. In 1974, Hubbert predicted that peak oil would occur in 1995:-)
So you think I should try Mortons then?
Margins. Much cheaper to create the plant based stuff. Not saying it is better, but this trend will probably continue.
Currently, the planet has never been greener according to NASA satellite imagery. WTF is ‘peak meat’ anyhow....frakin’ world going to sh*t because of cancerous libtard progressive policies = infuriating!
There goes the Keto diet.
