Why would he try to slap restrictions on his grown adult son when he’s said repeatedly that his son did nothing wrong?

The lie is the weapon used most often by the criminal. It takes some criminals to raze a republic.

How about clawing back Hunter’s bribes and returning them to the taxpayers—with interest—and treble damages?
