A majority of Germans say they would consider scaling down their Christmas lights to protect the climate, a survey released on Sunday said.
A total of 57% of those surveyed said they would reduce Christmas lighting or even do without it in the future, according to the survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of the German news agency DPA.
Of the respondents, 11% said they would make do without any lights this year due to climate concerns, while 10% said they would do so in the future. But 35% said turning off the lights was not an option for them.
Opinion is split on whether there should be fewer lights on buildings and in the streets in general, with 44% both for and against the idea.
Having lights up during the festive season is appreciated by a large majority of 79% in Germany. Almost seven out of 10 people surveyed plan to decorate their homes with electric Christmas lights this year.

Are you talking about 3D holograms or just projected snowflakes on flat surfaces?
projected snowflakes on flat surfaces; 10 euros.
Check the home shop in your local mall that sells fancy (”fancy”),
wall decorations, table decorations, etc.
Well, that's definitely true here in Dec-Jan even with no Christmas lights at all.
If people are choosing to use electricity for their electric cars and entertainment purposes rather than Christmas lights, well so what? It’s their choice, isn’t it? I never understood what tiny colored lights had to do with the birth of Christ anyway.
So much of Europe has left Christendom.
My wife asked me what I want for Christmas. I told her I would not mind more lighting decorations like the snowflakes but different.
She told me to pick something from this website: Caos Conzept
Because I recently started a new job (part time, riding shot gun, delivery to charities) and told her about when the diver stopped to receive a call... I saw an artist, slipped out the door and it was really cool.
I saw an artistI saw an artist shop.
I would venture to say that a majority of Germans are not the brightest bulbs on the string.
We are told we must use low wattage light bulbs in our homes (by law) and encouraged not to use the AC so that people can stream Kee$ha and power a golf cart commuter car.
We can make more power if that was the reason. Build nuclear plants. The No Nukes crowd didn’t say crap when Obama greenlighted Iran building nuclear plants.
No mystery here as now most Germans are Muslims
Yesterday I bought a Christmas pillow that lights up...

I dont think the picture does it justice because the lights are a softer glow.
Ten euros.
Look in your local home shop.
