The cold drizzle, empty seats and large black tarp covering a swath of the stadium offered a perfect backdrop. The happy-hour kickoff gave an excuse for the assembled masses to drown their sorrows. The Pac-12 conference, with its lagging revenue, intermittently blindfolded officials and star-crossed flagship programs continued a searing streak of infamy on Friday night. No. 5 Utahs face-plant in its 37-15 loss to No. 13 Oregon in the Pac-12 title game continues the dueling droughts that define the league. Utahs loss drops the Pac-12 to an all-too familiar place. No Pac-12 team will win the national title for the 15th consecutive season. Much worse, no Pac-12 team will reach the College Football Playoff for the third consecutive season.

No doubt the Pac 12 is exactly you would expect from the left coast.
But they are the “Conference of Champions” of sports nobody cares about .
Take LSU and the 7 points?
“intermittently blindfolded officials”
Lol....that translates to other conferences too BTW.....and even the national thugball league.
There is a reason why the pac 12 is moving the championship game to Las Vegas. Santa Clara is not a real destination, even the the tech conferences are located elsewhere.
I just chuckle at all the teams who jumped from the Big East to the ACC, and bow the ACC sucks and the BIG East successor is better than the Pac 12 or the ACC. Swap Boise State and San Diego State or Air Force or BYU for UConn and ECU, and you’ll really have a Power Conference. No SEC, but still pretty good.
Seriously? That’s so trashy. The Pac used to have pretenses of academic honor, and bow they’re moving to the gambling and prostitution capital of the world? Why not thailand, for crying out loud?
Just west of the stadium is the Mariott Hotel which was a favorite meeting place for the California Republican Party back in the 1980's, when the party was a force to be reckoned with. I spent many a Saturday night there making the rounds of the hospitality suites and often ate at Bennigan's restaurant across the street.
I didn’t see Larry Scott’s name mentioned in the article. Scott, who heads the Pac 12 is heartily hated by fans. Among his legacies are weekday games and 8:00 PM kickoffs. When he appeared at a recent championship game, he was booed. Nonetheless, for some reason, he has the backing of all the universities in the league, and they voted to keep him at his post.
People want to go to Vegas, apparently no one wants to go to Santa Clara. College football dumped the whole academic thing years ago when everyone began collecting lots of money (not the players though).

You can work and if/then tree at this point, now that the Pac-12 has eliminated itself:
1. If Georgia beats LSU, both teams make the playoff. Otherwise, Georgia is out and the SEC has one team.
2. If Wisconsin beats Ohio State, Ohio State still goes and Wisconsin *may* join them if LSU wins.
3. If Virginia beats Clemson, Virginia still doesn’t make the playoff and Clemson may not either.
4. If LSU, Ohio State and Clemson all win, the Oklahoma/Baylor winner will get the 4th spot.
Couldn’t disagree more with this Yahoo.
Oregon played Auburn as well as anyone. I wish they’d take the easy preseason route like most conference winners. But they’ll play Ohio State next year.
PAC12 play 9 conference games. So they do beat each other up.
PAC12 is cyclical. It needs to be more consistent. Oregon and Ohio State were in the first National Championship game. Except for last year, PAC12 won the majority of their post season bowl games.
Don’t count the PAC12 as dead just yet.
Watching the BU/OU game and one of the OU guys just tackled a BU guy by those nasty pigtails !
Or was LSU favored by 7?
Either way, it looks like LSU was the team to put money on.
It’s only 37-10.
Georgia needs to exploit the LSU 3rd string.
does that apply to georgia and the Sec?
$$$$$$$
In other news, Lane Kiffen is in fact going to Ole Miss.
