“I would like to see how those of you who posted like this would respond if it were a 79 year old man.”

Fags typically don’t live to be that age.

Kind of like the House of ill repute that went union.

EVERYONE (union types) cheered until they found out what SENIORITY really meant.....

(just conjuring up that scene makes me ‘beg’ for eye candy)

I realize that I may be an exception to the rule of thumb, BUT don’t AUTOMATICALLY rule someone out just because they are 80.

I would like to see how those of you who posted like this would respond if it were a 79 year old man.

Heck, I don't even have any use for the 25 year old male stewardesses.

You assume bitter. I have known older stews to be charming, attractive and poised.

What a pilot makes is dependent on the plane you fly, whether you are the Captain or First Officer, and how long you’ve been with the company.

A Captain flying the largest jets overseas to Europe or Asia is making north of 350k per year.

It’s comical to see the ancient FA’s on the big legacy carriers.

Yep. I noticed the same on a Continental flight to London just after 9/11. That’s a plumb route and I guess only the most senior can get it. The FA’s were all lined up at the gate in Houston and I couldn’t hlep notice it looked like a senior citizen beauty pageant line.

Me too, but the trend over the years is trending to bitter.

I do a lot of international flights and foreign airlines have nicer stews.
And my UPT class that jumped to fly with the majors, they are seeing the same thing.

The traveling public don’t help things when they are a bunch of entitled millennials wearing pajamas on the jet.

I wear a suite when I travel, and I have not flown coach since, I think it was 1997. As I explain to the stews that ask about my standard of dress, I tell them the jet is their office and I respect their job/office and dress and behave appropriately.

My goodness why didn’t she just retire???

Probably only worked a few days a month. I believe they have priority on scheduling and just work a number of days in a row. Then have the rest of the month off.

Delta flight attendants are non-union.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner here.

She was fired for any cause they could find because she is too expensive.

Comes a time though when it is time to hang up your shoes.

One bucket for money and one for crap. When one of the buckets gets full you go home. Surely it is time for her to go home.

There comes an age with make-up, ANY make-up, will simply not help a woman’s face.

Someone really needs to tell her that bit of information.

Why would she retire when she’s got top seniority, flight picks, holiday schedules, and still makes over 250,000 a year?

Greedy. Just a tad greedy.

Also, it sounds like she has not planned wisely...

“IDK what you think is so inherently funny about old age”

Hell, I’m mid 60’s and I think I’m pretty comical!

At least when I look in the mirror, searching desperately for that young, lithe skier guy I used to think I was!

But ya know, ya gotta grow up someday. Ain’t Peter Pan!

Which is what’s funny about the poor old gals still tottering up and down the aisles of sleek 787s and A340s.

At any moment I expect them to say “I’m ready for my closeup now Mr. DeMille!”

Imagine one of them trying to marshall people off the A321 that Sullenberger put down in the Hudson. The reality is that in an emergency, they would become the problem and not the solution.

My GF was a flight attendant in East Europe and kicked out as being too old at quite a young age. Before 40 for people concerned. Not without a retirement plan though.

Delta Flight Attendants are NON UNION! Delta has a legacy of retaliation against pro-labor employees. They also busted the union when they merged with Northwest. This FA was retaliated against for one reason, her age. The most senior employees are the most expensive to maintain and Delta is all about making CEO’s rich at any cost. This is exactly why the protection of Unions are necessary. I refuse to fly Delta and so should you!

There is zero evidence this employee stole anything. Conversely, there is evidence Delta is retaliating due to her age. Ditto for employees vying for top seniority positions. This Flight Attendant was discriminated against because of her age and nothing else. Delta is a non-union company for all but pilots. She has no protection, because she is an “at-will” employee. Any internal investigation by Delta is moot. Hopefully she will win her law suit. In the meantime, don’t fly Delta!

Delta Flight Attendants are NOT protected by a union. Delta is the largest airline without protections for their employees (except for pilots). She was fired for one reason, her age. Hope she sues and wins big.

Amen Malach. Delta wants to purge the most experience employees, because they are costly. It’s about money, and nothing else. Moreover, Delta is vehemently non-union, so this employee had no protections as an at-will employee. Coworkers also want her gone, because they are vying for seniority. I hope she sues and wins a large award. Age discrimination is a serious problem and non-union Delta is a serious offender. I have refused to fly on Delta for my entire life, because of their discriminatory practices. Perhaps it is time the flying public does the same.

You obviously don’t know what the real story is, because Delta has NO UNIONS for their employees, except pilots. This flight attendant was terminated solely because of her age and her only option is to sue, because she is a non-union at-will employee, meaning she can be fired at any time, for any reason, with or without cause or notification. Educate yourself!

Pilots at Delta are unionized, Flight Attendants are not. Pilots make more than Flight Attendants, period.
