"Terribly disappointing.

Army says faith-based group can no longer put Bible verses on dog tags.

In God We Trust is our National Slogan.

Our original Commander in Chief — George Washington — invoked God — as have his successors."

Why he used the phrase "dog tags" is beyond me. These tags are jewelry, made of pewter. People are in a lather about this. If the Army no longer wants their logo on these pieces of jewelry, that's their prerogative.

U.S. Army Oath of Enlistment:

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
(Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

That’s fine.
But we are talking about a jewelry company using the copyrighted Army logo on their jewelry. This has nothing to do with oaths or actual dog tags.
I have one of these Shields of Strength pendants with the USMC insignia on it. My son gave it to me. It is very precious to me. But Greg Abbot is making it sound like the controversy is over the actual dog tag. It isn’t.
I just don’t want Freepers to fall for it.
