Monkeys in India apparently cant tell a tiger from a dog made to look like a tiger -- or at least that is what one farmer claims.
The farmer, identified as Srikanth Gowda, said he has been able to protect his coffee crop from monkeys by painting his pet dog Bulbul with black stripes, an Indian news outlet reports.

I hope he used a non-toxic paint so the dog is not harmed.
Wonderful looking dog.
Not monkeys- the palm civet is a member of the suborder Feliformia, as are cats.
According to the article, it works quite well. The dog doesn’t run free, instead thr farmer walks him on a leash around the property twice a day and the monkeys steer well clear. The paint job looks pretty good! (I don’t like monkeys. They’re nasty creatures.)
Ages ago I was visiting a friend and we went out to the pasture to see his horse. I had a some Coke in a cup with some crushed ice. Upon finishing the Coke I shook the ice loose, as one tends to do. The sound caused the horse to jump about three feet into the air and land several feet away. Startled me, but I guess he thought it was a rattlesnake. Instinct told the horse to get away from that sound as quickly as possible. The horse eventually figured it out. The monkeys will eventually discern the dog is not a tiger. Same with a scarecrow.

Given the price of civet /toddy cat poop coffee...maybe the farmer should see if these monkeys poop it out undigested, too... could be worth big bucks

Haha
That was my thought. Monkeys eat coffee fruit and poop out Golden Beans. Harvesting would be a pain though.
