Chief Petty Officer Eddie Gallagher was not convicted of murdering a terrorist. In a real laugh out loud moment the witness that they had given immunity to confessed on the stand that he did it.

What they managed to convict him on was being in a photo (along with a bunch of other people) with the body of a dead terrorist. Of course they did not charge any of the other people because their goal was to find something, ANYTHING to hang on Gallagher. Because that is the way the system works today, if you are guilty they will make deals, if you are innocent they will find something to convict you on because you made them look bad.
