Elizabeth Warren said she wants to be the last president elected by the electoral college and the first elected by the popular vote.
The Democratic presidential candidate wants the electoral college abolished after the 2020 election, saying she would get elected next year under its rules and then by the popular vote when she ran for re-election in 2024.
Democrats were outraged in 2016 when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but Donald Trump won the electoral college and the presidency.
Only five times in American history has a candidate won the popular vote but lost the presidency, including the 2000 election where Al Gore won the popular vote but George W. Bush took the electoral college.
'I want to get rid of it,' Warren said of the electoral college in a video posted on her Twitter feed.
'So heres my goal. My goal is to get elected and then be the last American president elected by the electoral college. I want the second term to be that I got elected by direct vote,' she said. 'Call me old fashioned but I think the person who gets the most votes should win.'

It will be so much easier maintaining the fraud machine in a couple very large cities
That statement just proves that she knows her voters are STOOOOOPID. No way you could get a Constitutional Amendment passed in that timeframe, if at all.
Constitutional Amendment? Piece of cake! I can think of at least 45 state legislatures that would approve.
She might appreciate the irony...
Ok using this logic, let us eliminate the US Senate which is based on exactly the same principal.
So, in other words, we have nothing to be concerned about.
“Democrats were outraged”
oh well....
They didn’t need a Constitutional Amendment to eliminate the natural born citizen requirement.
The Electoral College is the only thing that keeps value in my vote, and the votes of MILLIONS of others in the middle of the country.
I’d go farther - I want electoral colleges in the separate states as well for statewide contests.
Why should five boroughs determine who New York’s governor is, for example?
Translation: She wants CW-II before her second term.
‘Call me old fashioned but I think the person who gets the most votes should win.’
California, Texas, Florida, and New York would be calling all the shots then.
I WANT HER ABOLISHED NOW.
Now can we talk about repealing the 19th Amendment? Has it served us well?
There would be massive voter fraud in every state. Even states the DEMs expect to lose would have a lot of voter fraud. We can’t even penalize people now for the fraud occurring in the swing states that decide most of our presidential elections. How in the heck would we monitor this nationwide?
Tar and feathers.
The downfall of the American Republic began when we abandoned the practice of Tar and Feathers.
There are now 50 popular votes.
