It all started with a handbag.
Maryana Beyders wasnt just any ordinary bag, though. It was a pink Hermès Kelly clutch, since discontinued by the pricey French fashion house. Beyders husband had gifted her the purse, worth $30,000, as a 30th birthday present.
So after a waiter at a posh New Jersey country club spilled some red wine on the luxury handbag last year, the real estate agent sued for negligence, demanding that the Alpine Country Club pay her the eye-popping price of her spoiled handbag.
That lawsuit had already made local headlines, but on Monday, the club in Demarest, N.J., responded with a surprising move of its own: Its now suing its own employee the waiter who allegedly spilled the wine in the latest legal development after a dinner gone downhill.(snip)
Members of the club are reportedly required to pay a $65,000 initiation fee, plus $19,000 in annual dues.(snip)
In court documents filed Monday, the country club insisted it wasnt liable for the damage to her purse, the Record reported, in addition to suing its own employee.
Errico said she was appalled that the country club has chosen to take on the cross-claim, a motion in which one defendant sues another in the same proceeding.

They did at first then dropped it.
The article clearly states:
In court documents filed Monday, the country club insisted it wasnt liable for the damage to her purse, the Record reported, in addition to suing its own employee.
Do you deny this?

So the club did sue the waiter as reported, but then had second thoughts after the publicity went against them.
That's different from saying they didn't sue their waiter.
None of this was in the original story at the link at the top.

More, diff source.

My beef with TexasGator is that he said the woman was a liar because the club never sued its own waiter.
I'm still waiting for an acknowledgement from TexasGator that those statements were false.

Joan Rivers was killed by the deep state
The comments on the story are scary. I have not seen this much hatred for the wealthy since the Russian Revolution.
Oh, in the minds of the posters Wealthy = Republican.
It all stems from her lawsuit against the club and waiter for negligence. In the clubs response they are saying they were not negligent in the hiring and training of the waiter.
Please show what they were suing the waiter for!
I do not doubt that.
Not sure either way.

That's freaking it. What a dumb old bag.
The purse is no big deal, either.
The NY Yacht Club was established in 1844. You belong to an older club than that. Could you name names?
According to Fox $30k..
Alpine Country Club in Bergen County, N.J., has sued its waiter in response to Maryana Beyder filing a lawsuit against the club last month to the tune of $30,000 in damages to Hermès Kelly bag, NorthJersey.com reported. The club reportedly responded to the lawsuit by denying liability and holding its own waiter responsible.
When did they sue the waiter?
Your source’s link is dated 11/12. As of 11/12 the club filings contained no actions against the waiter.
Psst..
According to multiple sources the club sued the waiter on Monday, then the press stuff hit the fan, and they dropped the suit on the waiter on Monday.
Easy peasy.
Why?
The "fact" is that they did (which you said they didn't), and because of that you called her a liar.
It doesn't matter why the club sued to excuse your false statements.
You made them, you should retract them.

I would certainly pay $30,000 for that bag if it had $29,990 in it. Or if I had a few $million to toss around and a Bordeaux or two.
“According to multiple sources the club sued the waiter on Monday, then the press stuff hit the fan, and they dropped the suit on the waiter on Monday.”
No source has detailed that lawsuit.
I’d buy that for a dollar.
That was a response, not a lawsuit against. the waiter.
What are you talking about? Read the fourth sentence in the original post at the top!
It's not my source, it's the source linked in this thread that we both responded to.
Maybe the linked article changed between 11/12 and now, but the FR excerpt clearly includes the line that the club is suing its own waiter.
Again, did you even read any of this?
