How about I tell you about my childhood friend, Nancy Pelosi?
Or the time I got interviewed by Oprah Winfrey?
So I lived in Baltimore, not far from Little Italy, where the D’Alesandros lived.
My father was Shop Steward of Carpenter’s Local 101. As such, because Tommy D’Alesandros was Mayor (Nancy’s father) he hired my father, and other union construction workers, to work on his house.
My father took me and my little brother along some times to help, pick up trash, etc. At the time I was maybe 8 or 9.
Nancy D’Alesandro is about 8 or 9 years older than me so she was a teenager. She’d come home from school, Catholic school, St. Leo’s I think, with a perfectly pleated skirt my 8 year old self admired.
She would ask her mother for permission to do stuff. Her mother would say No. Then she’d go sweet talk her father and ask for same thing and she’d get her way.
Her brother was also Mayor of Baltimore. Did you know he died the same week as Elijah Cummings....95 years old?
Mayor D’Alesandro the elder used to hire union electricians to come to election sites and zap the machines to re-set them all to zero. I used to go on those trips too. God knows Baltimore elections were never fair.
As for Oprah Winfrey, no big deal. I was Secretary of the local Parents Without Partners and she interviewed me during a segment of “People Are Talking”...her first show on TV, in Baltimore mind you.
Oprah Winfrey read the news, entertained us....all when she was a local yokel nobody.
So there you have it.
I never once met Joe Biden.
I was best friends with Christine O’Donnell, if anybody remembers her.
OK, you’ve bragged plenty. Now it’s time to give it up, or is it all just Big Fish talk? :- )
