Comedian Tim Allen took aim at political correctness in his field, lamenting the fact that he has to accommodate the "thought police" when speaking to big arenas.
"What I got to do sometimes is explain -- which I hate -- in big arenas, that this is a thought police thing, and I do not like it. But when I use these words, this is my intent behind those words," he told "The View" on Monday.
"So as long as you understand my intent -- I still get people: 'Well, just don't say it,'" he said, mocking critics.
Co-host Joy Behar, also a comedian, had asked Allen about "pc culture" which she said made comedy "really hard."
"I think my act, if I ever brought that old act back, I'd be driven out of town," she said.(snip)
"I think its funny to make fun of people that are full of themselves. Liberals have a very small window of sense of humor about themselves, so I love poking at it," Allen previously said in an interview with IndieWire.
"Two years ago, it was the conservatives, or whatever it is. But right now liberals, particularly progressives, hide behind large concepts. If you dont agree with them, if you dont agree with that position, then you hate women, and you hate gay people, and you hate pro-choice people, whatever. And I said, 'That doesnt fit.

I’m curious, though, as to which seasons you watched. The last two were pretty bad. Most of what went before, I really liked.
The new Mandy is absolutely dreadful — a dolt. (The old Mandy acted ditzy but she wasn’t.) We had to stop watching.
I like the episode when Tim Allen and Larrabee wanted incandescent light bulbs and had to go “underground” to buy them. It was a parallel to a drug deal.
A person is never so empty as when they are full of themselves.
Nonsense! Comedy today is not at all difficult. Just make a hetero, conservative, white male the butt of the joke and you're good to go.
