Is it nearly time for Homer Simpson's last "D'oh?" The Simpsons could be coming to an end, according to the animated hit's theme music composer Danny Elfman.
"From what I've heard, it is coming to an end I don't know for a fact, but I've heard that it will be in its last year," Elfman told the website Joe.ie.
The Simpsons is currently in its 31st season on Fox and was renewed in February for a record-setting 32nd season due to air in the 2020-21 television season. If Elfman is right, that means the show could go off air in two years.
A Fox publicist could not immediately be reached for comment.

Thank God. A really anti-male, anti-dad series.
It ended for me over a decade ago.
20 years too late if you ask me.
Thank you Disney. I loved seasons 1-12 or so. Then they went far left. See to be even handed thanks to writers like John Swartzwelder. Great writer and libertarian/conservative plots.
I agree, should have ended around season 12
Season 10 where they had the episode where they destroyed the character of Principal Skinner was the point where it I just stopped watching it. I never witnessed a series commit suicide like that.
I wonder what kind of retirement plan the nuclear plant has. Homer has to have 30+ years there.
When I watched the first episodes, as a kid, I thought it was funny and still think the first decade of the Simpsons was funny.
I never thought of it as anti-male or anti-dad. Not at first, but I have seen newer episodes and I it just seems mean, not funny. Maybe I just outgrew that kind of humor or the writers changed their style (or the writers are just different people all together).
Jelly of the month club?
bttt
Who? What? Why should I care? 31 years and Ive never seen a single minute of it.
I can remember back around 1993, standing next to a huge boulder, around 40 yards from my apartment in Western, N.C. watching it on a tiny 3 inch screen hand held TV just so I could pick up “The Simpsons”.
It was my favorite show. Just realized that I haven’t watched it in maybe 20 years.
I think it’s kind of sad how far things have gotten. I remember a kid in my class got sent home for wearing a Bart Simpson t-shirt that said, “Don’t have a cow man!” The tv show used to be considered subversive, now it’s boring to everyone today.
Bout time.
simpson’s used to be very funny when they routinely skewered celebs and made fun of societies foibles, but then they quit all of that a few years ago and just became stupid without being funny ...
same thing for many early south park episodes, but then they attacked Trump (NOT poking fun at him) in ways that were just purely political without one iota of actual humor and i haven’t tuned in sense ...
Television ended when they took off Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies.

Heres the classic clip of Grandpa Simpson explaining how he got something for nothing. Trust me, its worth the click. And its only 7 seconds long.
It reflects the change in America where young people now find humor to be a dog whistle for hostility and hate, while actual hostility and hate are taking the place of true humor.
The last time I saw a Simpson’s episode was the Halloween special, where Flanders became one of the undead after getting hit by Homer’s car and Homer poked Flander’s eyes to see if he was alive.
I don’t know when that was, but I stopped watching tv back about 2005 or so.
Dont forget Petticoat Junction. TVs rural purge knocked them out too.
