When I watched the first episodes, as a kid, I thought it was funny and still think the first decade of the Simpsons was funny.
I never thought of it as anti-male or anti-dad. Not at first, but I have seen newer episodes and I it just seems mean, not funny. Maybe I just outgrew that kind of humor or the writers changed their style (or the writers are just different people all together).
I think it’s kind of sad how far things have gotten. I remember a kid in my class got sent home for wearing a Bart Simpson t-shirt that said, “Don’t have a cow man!” The tv show used to be considered subversive, now it’s boring to everyone today.
It reflects the change in America where young people now find humor to be a dog whistle for hostility and hate, while actual hostility and hate are taking the place of true humor.
For many years, there has been a full-court-press against men and specifically the father as the head of the household. I used to laugh at the Simpson too, until I realized how it along with so many other things, were out to sabotage the honor and love due the father as the head of the home. The biggest subversion is the whole despicable and corrupt Women’s Movement.
