Chick-fil-A, once under fire for donating to "anti-LGBT" Christian organizations, has now taken flack for funding seemingly pro-LGBT charities. In a truly shocking development, the fast-food chain even funded the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which is notorious for slandering conservative and Christian organizations by calling them "hate groups" on par with the Ku Klux Klan. While conservative Christians have been defending Chick-fil-A from criticism, the fast-food chain donated to one of their worst enemies.
On Wednesday, a Christian non-profit Chick-fil-A once supported called for a boycott of the fast-food chain.
"Its time for Christians to find a fast-food alternative to Chick-fil-A," Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC) said in a statement.
On Tuesday, Townhall's Ryan Bomberger revealed the shocking news that Chick-fil-A had given $2,500 to the SPLC in 2017, citing the Chick-fil-A Foundation's Form 990.
Yet a Chick-fil-A spokeswoman insisted that the SPLC donation did not represent the company as a whole, and due to the restructuring of Chick-fil-A's philanthropic giving, it will not happen again.
The donations in question were disclosed in the 2017 Chick-fil-A Foundation 990 that listed giving in that calendar year. Among the recipients that year were Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Salvation Army, Paul Anderson Youth Home and more than 300 other organizations. The SPLC donation was made by a volunteer member of the Chick-fil-A Foundation Advisory Board," the spokeswoman explained. "Each volunteer advisor, in 2017, was offered the opportunity to recommend a grant recipient. The grants were given to a range of organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Atlanta Mission, the Holocaust Survivor Support Fund, Georgia Historical Society and brain health research at Emory University."

Judas Chicken.
Precisely, my good FRiend.
Nobody had to organize this Conservative into staying away from (anti-2A) Dick's or Walmart, I just made informed choices to go elsewhere.
Similarly, no one needed to organize me into opting completely away from Gillette (and by extension, P&G), I simply chose to choose the other brands that do not choose to offend me with their foolishly accusative advertising.
As far as Chick-Fil_A, to keep my business they need to make some immediate changes in their philanthropy organization. (Firing w no parting bonuses) And a good start would be to re-instate the Salvation Army as beneficiaries.
...Wont even reflect one cent on the balance sheet....
The proof is in the pudding as they used to say.
Like I said, the next couple of quarterly reports will be the tale of the tape.
But hey, now CFA can open up on Sundays and other holidays like the rest of em since it now longer matters to the balance sheet and may even help it.
I have a feeling sales will still be up
When I see only two people in the dining room and one car in the drive thru, then I would be worried about declining sales. Basically I just described the local Wendy’s. Till then, I will say the volume of people going is over the top, CFA should not worry.
Protests/boycotts are dumb when the left does them, and even dumber when we do them
Hear, here!
Yep, I agree.
“This is a crock. $2500 is NOT bankrolling. CFA matched a fund for an employee. It is in the contracts. Someone probably did not look up the acronym.”
Ok, perhaps. When CFA DENOUNCES the SPLC, then we’ll agree with you.
...but I really don’t expect that.
“Poor ol CFA. Always teeing someone off. Life serving the
public is a bitch. Dont know how any company survives.”
They won’t. They rode us to becoming a big-time player.
Now they’ll have to contract to where they belong based on their prices and quality (nothing to write home about, regarding either), which is in the minors (AA, by my estimate) - that’s hard to do without going broke.
Hope they enjoyed the ride.
“The devil is in the details. Who, specifically, gave money to the SPLC, and how much did they give? Follow the money. Dont just believe an oversimplified headline.”
They have a ‘communications’ department (probably staffed by Leftists, by the way).
Let’s see if they ‘communicate’ with us...if not, then they have NO PROBLEM with giving that money to a near-terrorist group.
“In the mean while, I’ve heard good things about Popeye’s sandwiches, and will be trying them.”
My wife isn’t a political junkie like me (and probably you), but she LOVES Popeye’s...and so do I. We tried CFA, nothing to write home about.
“Sounds like they are saying they had no control over where their money went. BS.”
I noted the same yesterday. If they simply throw away that kind of money - then why should we bother with them? We’re CONSERVATIVES, after all, meaning that we give a crap where our money goes.
A lot of political action groups are really shake-down artists. Which is one reason corporations donate, they essentially pay them to leave them alone.
Another is that even in presumably conservative fields, above a certain level the company people often are not conservative at all, they are financial people, or HR people, or legal people, who have little connection to the hands-on side of the business and the conservative culture of the mass of its employees.
One $2,500 Donation made by some Management Libtard is not Bankrolling. What a drama queen PJ Media has become.
Very well stated. I think there’s a large number of people who will still eat there but not as much
Me too. I never expected this. CFA’s true colors are being revealed, a company pretending to be conservative to get costumers while laughing at us.
Corporate skims 15% of the gross and 50% of the net.
Corporate gets immediate and proportionate loss to the bottom line for every dollar spent at your local Chick-fail-A.
A few drops here and few increases there and like I said, it won’t matter, an anomaly
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes. American Airlines saved a million dollars a year by dropping ONE olive in each dinner salad.
