This morning in two of the articles posted to FR, I noticed from two different news stories they used the term "Senate trail" (referring to the impeachment).

I decided to google it. "About 2,950 results" ? Same mistake over and over. Is this a conspiracy? Are these code words that have a different meaning? Maybe "Senate trail" is code for "Psycho path".

Just who is in charge here? /rant

Presumably it is going to the Senate for a trial.

Man, this is why I love this place: I thought I was the only one who googled for mistakes like that to see what happens! :)

To answer your question, there’s one person in charge and everyone else just copies them. lol Seriously, do this a few times and you’ll see that so much of this is canned, labeled and put on the shelf for public consumption.

Editorial oversight has been on the decline for a long time:

Trail is a real word.

Spell check won’t highlight it if it is a misspelling of trial.

They don’t proof-read anymore.

People giving lots of examples of spelling mistakes on this thread. I think they missed your point.

No conspiracy. Just another spat between editing robots, correcting, deleting each other’s results, and substituting their own version only to be deleted and replaced by another miffed bot who thinks its version is the right one. And so on, and so on, and so on.

Don't know.

But happy trials to you in your quest for answers.
