It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Jake Burton Carpenter the founder of Burton Snowboards. He was 65-years-old.
Officials from the company he founded, Burton Snowboards, confirmed his death. He emailed his staff this month saying his testicular cancer had returned.
In an e-mail to employees on Thursday, John Lacy, Burtons co-chief executive officer, wrote: It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news that Jake passed away peacefully last night surrounded by his family and loved ones as a result of complications from recurring cancer.

To the man who’s acolytes have ploughed more snow off the tops of mountains, flattened more moguls, and threatened more skiers than any avalanche.
No self respecting snowboarder goes near moguls. But as I said, your sport might well have died in the 90s without the influx you bemoan, and your planks would still have straight sidecuts.
