What the heck? He asked a number of questions of Fiona Hill that reflected negatively on Pres. Trump. What ever happened to "don't ask a question you don't already know the answer to?"
Quite.
Castor's skill appears limited to taking depositions - where one allows the witness to rattle on in the absence of any jury for discovery purposes and later impeachment purposes.
But here, in what may be the last shot by the GOP at Hill in front of a large portion of America, he allows her to run the examination.
I say "last shot" because obviously there are serious risks for the D's if a trial is held and they may welcome a way out of the matter. If the D's believe they have sufficiently established in the minds of enough new voters that Trump is "clearly and obviously guilty", they may vote on Articles of Impeachment and then argue there is no way justice will be served by letting the R dominated Senate decide the issue.
What is laughable about this event, apart from its potentially devastating impact on our nation, is that if a president were to grant foreign aid to a nation in the face of clear evidence of that nation's corruption, that president could be found unfit for office.
“Castor is good, only because of the cute gal sitting behind him..”
BONER!
Should have written: ”...at least in this setting.”
He was a horrible choice. This is a political hearing and he’s trying to play nice with these 5th column witnesses.
“This is a political hearing and hes trying to play nice with these 5th column witnesses.”
I agree. It isn’t a court room where he can take as long as he wants making nice. It’s annoying watching him waste time as the clock is running.
10% decent preliminary set up 90% wet noodle.
He wasted a lot of time NOT asking the right questions.
“”From her testimony so far, she strikes me as very smart, credible, & honest.””
Until she got to the end of her testimony perhaps..That’s when she slammed anyone for criticizing George Soros - calling it antisemitism. If his name was mentioned in the hearing today, I missed it but I couldn’t listen but a bit at a time. She must be one naive person...
I wondered about that when I was watching her.....
Nothing at that link that would back up the ones who are complaining about him here - seems like a pretty solid guy to me. I was surprised to learn he’s a “staffer”. Really odd that he had such a scowl on his face most of the time but maybe it was the stench from the room - from the other side!
“”Castor was in charge of the Republicans probes into President Barack Obamas administration, including the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal, and he was the top attorney investigating how U.S. diplomats handled Benghazi, and has become well known for overwhelming officials with demands for answers and documents.””
I understand he’s a career staffer but at the same time, he gets high marks from former Congressmen for the work he does and has done.
In just one week I am running into so many people who end a discussion with “we’ll see” and walk away! What gives? A friend told me that’s what it means - “I am done listening.”
What did she say? Do you know if there is a transcript somewhere?
I always thought Obama didn’t sell Javelins because he is timid and hates weapons.
Found the transcript.
