There’s a host of strong-female-lead movies that made a bundle - the first Charlie’s Angels movie included (think I saw that opening day back then).
Strange that she completely dismisses them just because those women don’t fit her exact SJW requirements (whatever they are).
Many women are brave and can save other mortals, but throughout human history it has been predominantly males who have done the fighting and dying. The woman carries the child and nurtures it. This takes years of her life. The man then realizes he needs to go out and provide for the wife and kids, and he goes out and hunts and fights the enemy, or in the modern world goes out into the business world where he must fight sexism and prejudice.
So, I prefer to see a movie that resembles the real world.
To me, the “re-do”, is another example of “rewrite an original no-brains involved” exercise, with square wheels.
“I think women are allowed to have one or two action franchises every 17 years I feel totally fine with that.
“Allowed” Really? Making a movie is a financial venture. If you don’t make a successful movie you won’t be allowed to make a second.
I have a question for FReeper women: Do you want to see movies where buffed up women kick guys’ butts? I don’t think many men do...
Not what I could find really. There were disputes over royalties with her ex-husband co-writer and also her being known for that one song vs. a whole slew of songs she had.
However it appears she’s suffering from dementia now and has been placed in a senior care facility as of 2017.
“Woke Feminism” is straight up misandry. It’s not about equality, it’s about punishing and demeaning men, and demoting them to a lower class of humanity. It’s about portraying men as weak, stupid, evil, and responsible for everything wrong in the world. It’s easy to do in our schools and in the media, where there is no “market”. But theater is pure capitalism, and people are not willing to pay for this misandrous, gynocentric garbage.
How many godzilla movies are out there? and they just keep on coming.
It seems to me that that is only partly true. For example; I myself quite like the reboots of Hawaii 50 and Magnum, PI. I think the real reason for these reboots flops is the insane PC that is shoved into everyone of them. JMO
Down the drain.
Hey Elizabeth, a few minutes of reflections would go a long way to discover why your movie bombed.
Not having seen it but reading your comments I would say you went into the making of this movie to deliver a message. You seem to forget that the business of movie making is to entertain, not educate.
You can have a entertaining movie that educate but the entertainment must come first.
The only stereotype being reinforced here is that people shy away from crappy movies, no matter how “hot” the stars may be.
Saw almost no publicity for this film, the previews were scarce, and if someone hadn’t suggested going, I probably wouldn’t have known it was in (and soon to be gone from) theaters right now.
