Speaking of weapons, of a sort, I was recently watching “The Patriot.’’ What does the expression “Aim small, miss small’’ mean?

“Aim small, miss small” = if you aim precisely, you won’t miss.

A la: if you aim at the broad side of a barn, you might not hit it - and certainly won’t hit the fly you want to.

My understanding on it is to say if you concentrate on a good tight aim, you will not miss.

What does the expression “Aim small, miss small’’ mean?

Aiming at small targets (a button on a British soldier's coat) increases hit probability.
