Some states have turned future tobacco settlement payments into cash by issuing securities.
Being privy to the legislative process, I was appalled by the dismissive attitude U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) showed recently to a witness testifying on so-called vaping-related hospitalizations.
Vicki McKenna, a beloved radio talk show host from Wisconsin, testified before the Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy of the Oversight and Reform Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives in mid-September. McKenna testified electronic cigarettes helped her quit smoking after 23 years.
Tlaib, who hails from Detroit, displayed conceit and disdain during the testimony. Her attack wasnt directed at any tobacco lobbyist but toward a constituent from another midwestern state. Making matters worse, Tlaibs interrogation was based on blatant misinformation.
Tlaib first inquired into McKennas political beliefs, noting she has called herself a converted conservative and a reformed Marxist, before asking whether McKenna was a conspiracy theorist. McKenna accurately said her political beliefs should not discount the idea of e-cigarette harm reduction.

The socialists, like Cuomo, ban flavored vaping fluids, but not flavored cigarettes.
They only care about preserving their precious revenue stream from the tobacco industry.....a settlement that was nothing more than protection money paid to politicians and which has done nothing to help people quit smoking.
The cats out of the bag, now.
The technology has been perfected and people can build ecigs in their garages and mix fluids in their homes if a ban is enacted.
Its unfortunate that some might turn in their neighbors for bypassing excessive taxation just to make them feel good about themselves.
I mean, we just cant have government do with less like we have to, can we?
They are hypocrites. They pretend to be so concerned over “vaping deaths” but not a word about deaths on the highways!
They can shove a vaping pipe up their noses.
That dude is so corrupt it’s insane. There’s this crap going on in New York now that if your car has anything less than brand new tires, it will not pass inspection. I had to buy 3 new tires, my dad had to buy FOUR and he drives a 2017 Ford, my cousin had to buy 3, all different garages, inspection stations. This is scam where these punks like Cuomo were probably paid off by the tire industry and the fools here keep electing them in.And you can bet the tobacco lobby has him paid off as well
We know for an absolute fact that the Freeper anti vaping crowd actively wants smokers to die.
How dare I say something so easily refuted?
Because when any poster confronts them with the actual numbers of vapers who have died from vaping in the twenty years ecigarettes have been around, and contrasts that with the monthly deaths from regular cigarettes they neither counter that with statistics from another source nor do they back down from calling to outlaw them.
You forgot the ad hominem, insults and personal attacks. They love using those.
Too funny. Too ban e-cigs,they're going to have to ban alcohol. Prohibition anyone?
Ping to Drango.
Opportunity to show your ignorance and leftism, Nanny stater.
Troll someone else.
What, no “death pimp” today?
Hope you’re feeling okay FRiend.
The E-Cig is the new target of the Temperance movement. Everyone thought that movement died out in the early 20th century but it’s still around to tag anything they don’t approve of as sinful.
Oh, they fully approve of it. As long as its taxed to death.
Their gods of government is always insatiably hungry.
You're right. There should be a campaign against vaping while driving. /S
