Winterlike temperatures that pushed into the northern Plains through the middle of this week will continue charging south and east into the weekend.
The first push of cold air arrived in the northern Plains on Wednesday into Wednesday night. Temperatures dropped into the single digits from Montana to the Dakotas and into northern Iowa throughout Wednesday night.
Cold continued to infiltrate the the country, spreading through the middle Mississippi River Valley and the Midwest.
Arctic blast satellite image The NOAA-20 satellite's VIIRS instrument captured this image of a major cold front sweeping across the continental U.S. on November 8, 2019. (NOAA) The lowest temperatures so far this season expected for the Northeast and many in the Southeast on Saturday morning, where daily record low temperatures could be challenged for cities from Boston to Nashville.
"The low temperature could plunge to 25 F in Philadelphia on Saturday morning. It hasn't been this cold so early in the season there since 1976," Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather meteorologist and social media manager, said.
A stiff northwesterly wind will keep AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures as much as 15 degrees F lower than the actual temperature reading across much of the region.
Normal high temperatures for the beginning of November range from the lower 40s F in northern Maine to the lower 60s F in the mid-Atlantic.

Thanks for bringing us some business. We go to Peppermill frequently
Oh good, I haven’t lost my mind. I was sitting here thinking I was in Colorado Springs that year and I don’t remember it being that bad. We had just come out of Germany and I thought maybe I was acclimated or something.
Now the winter of 1987-1988 was bad in Georgia. My car door kept freezing shut. Not so good when you work night shift in the really good part of town. Had to buy a lighter just to heat the lock up.
I had suspected...
Well according to my children, you have to have a mind to lose it. Needless to say I never had one to lose. I blame them.
Isn’t that what kids want for Christmas? My Little Peonie?
Lol. AccuWeather is all-in for climate catastrophe.
New York City is the center of the universe to the media.
I picked up on that in the early 70’s. I asked my parents why the media freaks out about cold and snow in NYC when the midwest was much colder. They just shrugged and said that the media is based there so the rest of the country doesn’t matter to them.
Imagine enduring these temperatures when you have no electricity because the weather front has idled a large portion of the wind farms and snow, clouds and night have shut down the solar arrays and heating with oil or natural gas has been banned.
Even cool in the Biloxi area this morning - 40 and feels 35 - these are January-February temps...
Mountain View, California just BANNED all new natural gas hookups! In CA where the power gets shut off regularly. Its obviously not as cold as the mountain north, but it does get down to 25-30 in winter for a few weeks every winter.
Think Cabeza de Vaca.....
I was in Michigan the winter before, so I was very happy to be in the Springs!
Uphill both ways. LOL
School was closed for a week. I lived on the South Shore in Massachusetts. Cars were buried in snow and abandoned on Rte 128 outside of Boston.
I agree with you that Global Warming is BS.
Do you have any backup data to this statement?
“I would like to point out the fact that although this is 180 degrees out from what global warming models predicted, it is exactly spot on for what Solar Scientists have predicted for the last 10 years. We are entering a solar minimum and it is going to be cold for the next few years.”
Thanks if you do. I am searching the FR archives for such information because of a serious discussion I am having with my 30 year old niece who is totally brainwashed and convinced that we are doomed.
Thank you for this post.
“It’s recorded as man made even know this directly related to Sun spots and solar winds.
When solar winds are light the from low solar activity. This lowers earths electric circuit. cool air rises from the surface lowering planets temperature. Think of an electric heating coil. The electric resistance creates heat. High solar winds we will see more lighting storms and warms the planet.
Climate change “scientists” measure Solar energy and does not count solar winds as energy. Because they do not take into effect the electrical circuit of the planet. Anything that isn’t solar energy or planet energy is obviously Man made according the climate change BS.”
Do you have any links to the scientific data that you are referring to?
Thanks again.
I have been following the solar scientists for about 15 years now, so I can’t point to a single source. Go to ClimateDepot.com, they have links to mounds of sources. You can also google things like solar minimum.
