LOLOL. I’ve done that a fair amount age 5-10. I can well understand your point. LOLOL.
******************************************************************************
My grandparents had a twenty acre farm. They had a small dairy herd that they hand milked day and night. No running water and no indoor facilities. Hand Pumped drinking water, and bathing-galvanized tub or shower can in the summer.

I spent most of my younger days down on the farm. Eventually, they did get running water to the kitchen-no hot water except what we heated on the propane stove.

I was 22 when grandpa died, and grandma sold the farm and bought a little house in town with all the modern facilities. Spent lots of time in various outdoor facilities. LOL

I was afraid of my own shadow in those days—divorced parents etc. And I was as averse & terrified by the ‘long’ walk in the dark through the tall weeds as I was averse to the cold seat. Mother was the furthest thing from one to molly-coddle my fears. LOL. Don’t know if I was more afraid of her or of the ‘lurking ‘boogy-man’.’ LOL.
