I hope he eventually posts his articles there once the site’s fixed.

Otherwise, I’ll miss reading his work. KS is probably the only columnist (VDH maybe excluded, except his NeverTrump phase) whose columns I read regularly and enjoyed almost without exception.

He’s almost alone worth the $45 to get past the paywall. Almost.

If I could drop maybe $25/year just to read Schlichter and there were absolutely no ads (inluding from TH hocking stuff)...

So, I just read the article.

And I didn’t pay anything.

Not sure how long it will last, but if you copy the URL of the article and go to https://outline.com/ and paste it in, you’ll get the text of the article which can be read. No ads or comments and no paywall.

TBH, it wasn’t one of his best, but it was OK

Kurt Schlichter has every right to getting paid in any way, including a paywall. I have no qualms about it. And I’ve appreciated his wit in the past, he is definitely one of the top ten conservative columnists of all time, back to Goldwater/Buckley days.

I don’t recommend that conservatives use go-arounds, though, to read content intended for paid publishing. I know it’s an extremely gray area, though. For instance, I empty the browser cache when I run into the limit of NY Times articles to refresh the 5 article monthly limit, when I need to cite the idiotic writing they portend to initiate.

It is an interesting experiment, though, and with Google/Facebook/Twitter demonetizing conservatives to less than 3% of their income prior to 2016 election, it’s something that has to be considered.

That’s their VIP? I deleted it. Wouldn’t pay to read half the crap on the internet. Their ego is getting the best if them. This will fail.

Why can't they find Republican mega-donors to keep the doors open?

This strikes me as opportunistic, but ultimately suicidal as a business decision:

  1. They are going paywall just before the extremely consequential 2020 election ramps up into full speed, perhaps thinking that readers will pay to keep being informed by them.
  2. They are removing their voice from the masses just as the Democrats are ramping up impeachment hysteria, thereby taking away a widely read platform of opposition opinion to balance the overwhelming MSM presence.
  3. They are minimizing their own influence going forward into the election season, just when their voices are most needed to be in the public square to call out Democrat lies and hypocrisy.
