The sad part is James Cameron is responsible for two of the most genuinely badass female action heroes of all time; Alien 2's Ellen Ripley and Terminator 2's Sarah Connor. He did this when being "woke" wasn't a requirement and the end result with these characters felt exciting and genuine to moviegoers. These days, "wokeness" is a check in the box and viewers can see right through it. It comes out as pandering and condescending.
