When they were finished, it looked as though the Greenwood Village, Colo., police had blasted rockets through the house.
Projectiles were still lodged in the walls. Glass and wooden paneling crumbled on the ground below the gaping holes, and inside, the familys belongings and furniture appeared thrashed in a heap of insulation and drywall. Leo Lech, who rented the home to his son, thought it looked like al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Ladens compound after the raid that killed him.
But now it was just a neighborhood crime scene, the suburban home where an armed Walmart shoplifting suspect randomly barricaded himself after fleeing the store on a June afternoon in 2015. For 19 hours, the suspect holed up in a bathroom as a SWAT team fired gas munition and 40-millimeter rounds through the windows, drove an armored vehicle through the doors, tossed flash-bang grenades inside and used explosives to blow out the walls.
The suspect was captured alive, but the home was utterly destroyed, eventually condemned to be demolished by the City of Greenwood Village.
The suspect, Robert Jonathan Seacat, had stolen a shirt and a couple of belts from a Walmart in neighboring Aurora, Colo., and then fled in a Lexus, according to a police affidavit.

You left out where he shit at the cops.
LOL.
So it’s okay to damage things one doesn’t need to damage and you’re golden, right dude?
Say, how’s that Biker stuff going anyway?
Now that’s just crappy.
At least wipe afterwards
Couldn’t wait him out? Cops just standing around in the open? I hate these shows that show cops going through all sorts of training then absolutely blow it in real life situations.

As usual you are lacking the real facts and putting false words to my posts.
A tad bit of overkill...
No, it’s exactly what you are saying.
OTHER swat teams seem more than capable of performing their actions without destroying a building.
Exactly- there’s more to this story very likely- compost is trying to make out like he was non violent and the police are pukes- like they always do-
+1.
Please enlighten us on how they didn’t shaft the homeowner. The destroyed his property and then refused to compensate him for the damage they did. If that ain’t shafting the homeowner then I would hate to see what is.
“No, its exactly what you are saying.

Seeing as I have made no comments on the execution of his capture you must be lying.
[[Couldnt wait him out?]]
Not if he was shooting at the police- and possibly endangering nearby residents-
TDK.
The compensation they did give, and the insurance pay out, may have been fair.
But saying any act not officially an “eminent domain” taking requires no compensation isn’t right.
A taking is a taking.
The police would have been better to completely level the house with a hellfire missile. It would have saved the homeowner some money.
He should have accepted this settlement with the proviso any rate increases due to this would be picked up by the city for 5 yrs.
“The destroyed his property and then refused to compensate him for the damage they did.”
He was compensated.
You said post 31, right?
Where you claim they didn’t shaft the owner?
Is that not a comment on the execution of the capture?
Funny, you might be lying.
The 18 hour standoff was not about busting a shoplifter but getting an armed and dangerous man off the streets.....the guy was high on methamphetamine the entire time.... ‘ran from police’ and drove straight at an officer chasing after him on foot.....additionally he fired a shot at officers he saw outside...once the officers were inside the guy shot at police. They did not return fire.
The guy’s facing a long list of charges including attempted murder of a police officer.
“You said post 31, right?

No. That is about the civil case. And I was just stating facts, not my opinion.
Other swat teams have been more than capable of performing a capture on similar badguys without destroying a house.
