My wife and I are both retired and in our 70s and have adapted our 2 year old granddaughter out of necessity.

We placed her in a nice daycare school during the week so she could get some socialization with other kids her age and so we can get some time to tend to the cattle and chores on our farm.

Prior the little one showing up in our home full time, I never got sick. Ever.

But about 6 weeks ago she brought some crud home she got at school and gave it to both of us. Runny nose, coughing.

Mine turned into bronchitis and then it got infected and I had full-blown pneumonia. It kicked my ass. I couldn't breathe and spent a week in the hospital trying to kick its ass.

It's been six weeks of feeling like I was going to die. Literally. If you can't breathe, you can't do anything. Just in the last few days I am starting to get my full breath back but it has left me weakened and without much energy.

My first attempt at continuing back on my daily walking routine turned into a scary disaster. I took it slow and deliberate on the way out and back but on my return, within 50 yards from my house, I got light-headed and passed out. Face-planted in the grass median on the highway. Bloodied my nose, bruised my ribs and hurt my shoulder. I'd never passed out in my life before.

The ambulance came as did the sheriff and several passersby. My wife eventually saw the commotion and came out too. Medics couldn't find any underlying problems after taking my vital signs and doing an EKG.

My wife took me back to the house and I vowed to rest some more before trying to get back into my life.

Our granddaughter is a real joy albeit she is a two year old and can be a handful. But the cold she brought home from daycare almost kilt me. It will take weeks if not months before I am back to full strength again.

This getting old shit, is getting old. :-)

You need to pick up some of the remedies on this thread and give them a try. Experiment until you find what works for you.

Honey, you guys need to take enough vitamin d3 to get your blood levels up over 70. To get that sick so fast from a virus means you are deficient in D3. I get it with the little kids who bring home everything. It’s tough. But you guys can prepare.

Start with the highest vitamin d capsules you can find. There are 10,000 IU. I’d start those today. After a couple weeks, you can go down to 5,000 IU a day for the rest of the season.

Get a neilmed nose irrigation bottle from any pharmacy and use it every morning, takes a few seconds. Feel free to add a couple drops of apple cider vinegar to the bottle along with the salts packet. It works when you’ve been exposed.

Have your baby girl take vitamin d gummies - 2000 IU a day during this season.

Sorry you got so sick.
