Did this guy have have any protective gear on prior to going into a confined space?
Did the company have any lone worker monitoring for workers going into potentially dangerous areas?

Yes, I live here, and the astonishment comes from the fact that the guy should have had a monitor when he went to check at that pump house and he must not have. I’ve heard of that kind of thing nearly all my life. Having it within city limits is rather unsettling....but maybe that far west is under county jurisdiction and maybe not that populated.
