I’ll take any bad day in 1972 over any good day in 2019.
Im 63. The America I grew up in has vanished. Ditto on everything you said.
Yep, born 1956. My wife and I grouse about getting the hell out of the sh!th*le this country has become (everywhere the “homeless,” drug addicts, crazy people, crushing taxes and regulations, leftist politicians, mentally ill liberals) and moving to Japan, Korea or Taiwan, all of which are much saner, cleaner and nicer than what we have become.
Plus I’m convinced we are heading for a civil war.
We’re already in a civil war.
Yep, that’s the way I read it. Washington is descending into chaos.
Notice they are not dealing with the real problems. Debt spinning out of control into bankruptcy, medical system collapsing because of Obamacare (at least here, everyone’s leaving medicine), millions of invaders at our border. Congress is doing squat about the real problems. They’re only concerned about impeachment and whether trannies can use the girls’ bathroom.
We’re in very bad shape. And Xi Xinping and Putin just have big smiles on their faces. I don’t see Russia as a real threat, but China sure the hell is.
I’ve played a few tapes off an AVR 6 or AVR 2 by Ampex. Scraped a few too.
Dubbing legacy tapes to more modern stuff at the time such as Digi-beta, DVC Pro or BetaSP depending on who ordered it.
By the early 00s, I was one of a few that could set one up left. I learned from a couple of aces before they retired.

Something I rolled on working late one night.
I returned from RVN in August of ‘72 & didn’t even buy a TV until years later. Stupid sitcoms and Watergate, Watergate, Watergate, were all there was at the time. Got news on the radio.
No halcyon days then. I was discharged in ‘74 with nothing but combat skills, long gas lines everywhere as we headed into recession. Congress went hard left similar to today.
Took the Reagan Renaissance to turn things around.
Anybody who asked about where I'd been got some bullsh!t about how I'd been out on the Coast for 4 years, town called Oceanside... Marine Corps? Never heard of it.
I still remember how we were smuggled back into the country at 5am, into Travis, and bused to KSFO, where there were flights to the entire country, all leaving before 7am... The terminal was empty by 7:15
I DO NOT have all kinds of warm fuzzy memories of the '70s. Somehow, this "Thank you for your service" thing is annoying...
A nod to several years before 72 since it’s kind of related (I think)and if you like QM shows, this gem is coming out:

Well....maybe better late than never. I didn’t retire from the reserves until 2011; older than dirt CWO here. I got deployed in 2003 at 55 & when we walked through the concourse, people stood & applauded.
If someone sees my Viet vet cap & says thank you, that’s kinda neat, too. I bought it in 2012 & went into Whole Foods hoping to set off some aging hippie. No such luck; just my 10% vet’s discount.
That’s now; all’s well that ends well. I too lived through the Sucky Seventies & used my GI Bill. But what appalls me now is just how old we are. Well, that war’s fifty years gone so what can I say?
Anyway, welcome back and thank you for your service. And I really mean that, bro. God bless the Marines!
You want to experience Jimmy Carter's election again?
I want to avoid Clinton’s
They took you to a radio station?
Come to think, it might have been a radio station. After 17 hours in a too small seat, in a smoke filled tube, where we took off before first light, landed in Honolulu at 9pm the previous night, and somehow arrived 2 hours before we took off, reality gets a little fuzzy...
Omagaw, in ‘72 I was living in my 65 VW van, all over the Southwest, around the abandoned pueblo villages carved into the rock mountainside.
I picked up a couple of hitch hikers outside of Albuquerque who turned out to roadies for the Allman Bros.
Asked where they were headed, they said Hot Lana, so I drove ‘em there & dropped ‘em off.
When we arrived at their house, Edgar Winter happened to be there, sweeping the floor...
I work in a hospital here in southern NJ. The medical staff here is about 99.9% East Indian and Pakistani. There are virtually no native born Anglo-Saxon MDs. There are no African-American doctors. Homey finds it easier to shoot hoops or throw forward passes or be a ‘rapper’’ as a path to success I suppose, screw sitting in medical school for ten years. The nursing staff is about 95% Filipino. You’re right about Congress. The rats could care less that the ship is heading for the rocks. Question is how much longer are We The People are going to put up with it? The Founders would have had most of these bastards ‘’doing a jig’’ at the end of a rope.
