Will the Miami Herald Step Up and Save Mainstream Journalism?
American Thinker ^ | 26 Oct, 2019 | Jack Cashill

As intended, my October 23 article, “Why Did the Miami Herald Abandon Journalism,” caught the attention of the editors of that venerable newspaper. Now that I have their attention, I would like them to address a question that only they have the clout and resources to answer: did the Florida state attorneys know that their star witness in the 2013 trial of George Zimmerman was an imposter? If the editors answer this question, they could win a Pulitzer. Even if they fall short, a good faith effort could help restore the faltering faith of many Americans in mainstream American journalism. Here is what we know right now.

As Joel Gilbert proves six ways from Sunday in his new film and book, “The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America,” star witness Rachel Jeantel was an imposter. She was not Trayvon Martin’s girlfriend. She was not on the phone with him when shot by Zimmerman. She likely never met Martin.

At the trial, Jeantel said her nickname was “Diamond Eugene.” Through his dogged research, Gilbert found the real girlfriend, “Diamond Eugene,” full name Brittany Diamond Eugene.

Here is the immediate news hook: the one adult who provably knew about the witness switch is now running for Miami-Dade county commissioner with the open support of Hillary Clinton. Her name is Sybrina Fulton, the biological mother of Trayvon Martin. In her defense, Fulton did not know about the switch before it happened.

If Barky Bama’s son got killed trying to murder another person, the coverup would look like this.

The Miami Herald has been a crap publication for decades and was instrumental in the rise of Janet Reno’s career.

Not likely, and probably not even possible. Even before the newspaper business model collapsed due to the Internet, almost all newsrooms were corrupted by business considerations, identity politics, and stark, raving Leftism. Today, newspapers — including the Miami Herald — are barely hanging on and cannot muster the courage to report politically unpalatable and racially provocative truths.

I think Jack Cashill is trying to throw some sand into the corrupt gears of South Florida politics and biased news reporting.

I agree. But, when the Miami Herald is teetering on the edge, why not give them a good push.

Mainstream journalism is not salvageable. They are indeed the enemy of the American people.

The Miami Herald has been a crap publication for decades and was instrumental in the rise of Janet Reno’s career.

The Miami Herald had perhaps the most depressing (for the staffers) move of all time. They went from having a spectacular view next to beautiful Biscayne Bay to moving miles to the west to a... business park in Doral. So instead of seeing a vast vista of Biscayne Blue water they now have to stare out at a strip of parking lot concrete.

...

Yep. But it’s better than others such as the Sentinel papers.

At least a Herald reporter called the author back.

Some paper at some point will make the switch from being a lap dog to corrupt Democrats to being a real newspaper. It’s only a question of time.

I don’t know if the Miami Herald will be first but it’s gonna happen soon ... and it could be a game changer for the paper - and the industry. Why the Herald? Because the ‘white Hispanic’ screams for justice - and much of the Herald’s readership is Hispanic...

I hope you're right!....Because the Constitutional concept of “free speech” is based on that premise...

No, nothing in the Constitution is based on newspapers.

“are barely hanging on”

indeed. most newspapers today are pretty much nothing more than leftist penny shoppers that cost WAY, WAY more than a nickle ... local newspapers have already died, but continue to live on as zombies that are little more than the state’s oligarch-owned newspaper stamped on the top with a local township name ...

Even worse, some newspapers have come to resemble those free entertainment rags that are loaded with ads for escorts and sex clubs. Yet, even now, there is much that newspapers could do to recover revenue and standing with the public. It seems though that as bad as most newspaper editors and reporters now are, their management is just as bad if not worse in business competence. Facebook, Google, Twitter, and other companies though continue to accrue and benefit from those opportunities.
