This month, Simone Biles became the most decorated gymnast of all time when she earned five gold world medals at the World Championship on October 13.
Biles birth mother struggled with addiction and when Biles was just three years old, she and her siblings were taken from their mother and placed in foster homes. For three years, they bounced from home to home, never feeling as though anyone saw them. Then her grandfather and his wife stepped up to adopt Biles and her sister.
Although I was young when my foster care ordeal began, I remember how it felt to be passed off and overlooked, she wrote. Like nobody knew me or wanted to know me. Like my talents didnt count, and my voice didnt matter.
Finding a family made me feel like I matter. Finding a passion, something I loved and was really good at, made me feel like I mattered.
There are currently over 400,000 children in the United States foster care system. Most are waiting to be reunited with their birth parents, while just over 100,000 are eligible for adoption. Many prospective adoptive parents are waiting for a newborn to adopt, rather than a child from foster care. However, for every single newborn placed for adoption, there are 36 parents waiting...
There are many myths surrounding children in foster care, leaving many prospective parents too afraid to reach out and adopt them. But just like Biles, there are other children in foster care just waiting for the chance to share their talents with the world.
But if we invest in foster care children, they, too, can have the opportunity to succeed, said Biles, which in turn strengthens our communities, economy and society.

Now imagine she was aborted and never existed.
How many wonderful athletes, scientists, altruists, teachers, actors and statesmen have we aborted in the past 50 years. It is unfathomable.
Beautiful talented girl, probably could easily have been aborted and you can bet a lot of people tried to get her mother to do so.
Scum.
She’s quite something great alright.
Parents mean litteraly EVERYTHING to children. Foster parents cannot replace them, in most cases. Sadly, Lots and lots of these foster parents are only in it for the money.
All negro children are born equal to and with the same abilities as all human children.
It is the ‘black’ culture that rewards them for the wrong things that makes it look like negro children are somehow less capable than other children.
Simmone Biles is fascinating to watch......she’s a solid mass of muscle machinery fully under her control. Absolutely worth the watch....
Yes, totally awesome.
My wife is a former national gymnast and up until recently very involved in the sport. It was through her that I had the pleasure of meeting Simone.
This young lady is an amazing person and from what I’ve seen, a perfect role model. She’s also an example for our youth of how hard work and determination can create well-earned success — something young people today are lacking in understanding.
She did a flip before throwing the first pitch at a World Series game the other day. Impressive stuff.
There’s few I’m interested in viewing as I’m not sports minded at all. But Simone Biles is way above the cut.....in a league all her own beyond a doubt. ....breathtaking to watch her.
I agree...impressive personality goes with the package.
I agree.
A leftist-Demonrat plot to keep the slaves on the plantation. Keep them in permanent dependence, permanent turmoil and perpetually aggrieved to keep the Dems in permanent perpetual power. And today honoring one of the slave overseers from Congress from Baltimore as if he did anything but serve himself. Sickening.
I was a young girl during the 76 Olympics. Nadia and Olga were a sight to behold. Simone makes them look like the JV squad.
Amazing, AMAZING story!
Simone makes them look like the JV squad.
I think the sport has evolved.
Simone Biles 4’8”, 104 pounds.
Nadia Comaneci 5’4”, 86 pounds. ( at the time of the 1976 Olympics.) https://www.biography.com/athlete/nadia-comaneci
Simone has more than well earned her place among outstanding athletes in History....she will be well remembered.
