On Friday, ITV news released a clip from an upcoming documentary which showed Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, holding back tears as she acknowledged the challenges she's faced as a newlywed and mother in the spotlight.
"Thank you for asking. Not many people have asked if I'm OK, but it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes," she said, before confirming, in the words of her interviewer, that she "isn't really OK."
It's no surprise that Meghan is struggling. Our society's lack of concern for the well-being of new moms is terribly disturbing — and it's even worse for her as a royal.

It’s no surprise that Meghan is struggling. Our society’s lack of concern for the well-being of new moms is terribly disturbing — and it’s even worse for her as a royal.
The Duchess has many more resources than most at her disposal, to deal with whatever difficulties she faces.
I hate to ask, but whose fault is it, that society allegedly hasn’t proper concern for the well being of new mothers? Can we really ascribe fault to anyone or any aspects of society?
So sad! Sobbing uncontrollably here...

Maybe because to the VIOLENCE that having more and more children is causing to Mother Earth. At least that’s the way most Europeans now view children (along with college-educated millennial beeches).
“gut-wrenching..” Good grief, dramatic much? Meghan is an actress. I’m sure she knows how to turn on the tears when needed.

I agree with your analysis. I also sympathize with the Duchess. We’re all human first. I hope she gets to feeling more positively.
When did we start thinking about society’s “concern” for us as new mothers. I had 5 babies and made it just fine. Don’t remember ever once wondering if there was concern out there for me. What is society supposed to do for us??
How does she manage to care for a baby with only a small staff and millions of dollars?
It’s like no woman was ever a Duchess with kids before.
Cry me a river. MEghan needs to look in the mirror to see the source of her troubles. She’d have a staff to help her if she didn’t keep running them off. She’d have friends if she didn’t declare no one is supposed to speak to her or her dogs. She’d get better press if she wouldn’t put on airs.
A French friend of mine who is pregnant commented the other day that in France -- if you're pregnant, you are normally not left to wait in line, at coffee shops, at the grocery store, wherever. You're the first to be seated at restaurant, people are expected to help carry your bags, etc...But in the states, no one bats an eye.
(Keep in mind that this is Los Angeles, I assume places elsewhere in America may be more polite...And that she has plenty of complaints about France too...But in this regard, and in terms of maternal care after giving birth at hospital and things. France wins.)
