Totally off-topic to start things off today, but a few weeks back we were talking about the 'Griddle Stitch' for crochet projects. I came across a scarf pattern I made last year for 'Forster Care to Success' that uses that stitch.

Info: One, of a number of red scarves I made to send to, ‘Foster Care to Success’ College Kids. This is crocheted using a ‘Griddle Stitch’ and a Size J hook. I tried to keep it gender-neutral as the scarves are going to guys and gals.
I used 3/4 of a 7 oz. skein of Red Heart Super Saver yarn in ‘Cherry Red.’ Under $4 for yarn, and I had it finished in about 5 hours, total. Scarf measures 7’”wide, by 60” long, long enough to wrap around your neck a few times to keep the chill out. (Link below if you’d like to help this organization.)
Beau & his (now deceased) wife had FOURTEEN Foster Kids through their home; Beau is still in touch with two. Making it through the system and then on to College? Now, THAT is an accomplishment for sure, when you don’t have the support net that so many of us take for granted.

Morning all! Fall color in full swing here in west Michigan, we are about 30% my guess. Lots of rain means long lasting great color. Garden is in good shape for the winter sleep. Have some rooted sweet basil in a jar with some water on the kitchen windowsill. Have done this before, it will last awhile just in the murky water. Still just a few things to do outside, house related. I buried my 2 bonsai for the winter, a larch and a spirea. They do well right next to the foundation on the south side and covered in burlap. Hummingbird feeder was taken down weeks ago and replaced with our suet cage. Pileated woodpeckers coming already, surprised me the other day, very early. Planning a small bonfire for tomorrow. Making white turkey chili today and another apple pie. We love fall! Going too fast on all my winter craft projects I need to slow down. Hope many check in on this thread and let us know how you are doing, especially ones with health challenges - any updates are appreciated as we keep praying. My biggest question in the next 2 weeks is how much sauerkraut to put up. Have a great weekend everyone!

Paprika peppers are still setting blossoms !
Cool nights. 70 degree days in mid-Missouri.
I haven't counted the number of green immature peppers but estimate there are 50 or 60.

Yowser. I just made chicken paprikash a few days ago in our pressure cooker. I use a lot if the sweet smoked paprika, about 1/4 cup. You have a nice long growing season.

Pepper seedlings from my 2020 crop waiting for the sunrise. I put them out in the mornings to harden them then bring them in at night. I'm not worried about the cold. We get some torrential rains in the winter that would pound small plants right into the dirt so I bring them in to protect them until they are big enough to stay out 24/7 like the 2019 plants.

We make a “beer can chicken on our charcoal grill without the beer can.
Slather the bird with oil, sprinkle on paprika, set it upright on the grill with a piece of aluminum foil over the top. Coals are indirect (sides of the grill.)

Please post pictures off your balcony every week! I just LOVE that view. So jealous. I only have cows to look at. And then some more cows. A few buffalow over at the neighbors, though.
