The $309 HOA fee is what used to be full rent.
Back when “artist’s loft” was landlord lingo for “barely habitable dump.”
OMG in the 80s I had a 1200 square foot apartment right on the harbor boats right outside my patio door, ALL utilities paid for $300.00 a month!! That same apartment I lived in is now $3500.00 a month NO utilities paid!!! Ca. Has become INSANE where housing is concerned!!!
The latest trend in L.A. is to put bunk beds in every bedroom, and cram as many as 20 renters into a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. Shared bathroom, kitchen, and “social area.” Military style footlocker for storage— no full closets.
The landlords charge $600- $1000 per month per BED.
It’s called “pod living”.
Google “housing under $1000 per month, Los Angeles” and you get mostly pods, very few 1 BR apts.
