Boston man Jean-Paul LaPierre, who caught a Blue Line train Sunday morning to the Chicago Marathon, said he didnt hesitate to act when he heard someone was robbing people on the train.
I dont like people that strike fear in people like that, he said. I dont like bullies.
A man boarded the train about 5:50 a.m. and showed a handgun to passengers while demanding their money in the 5800 block of North Cumberland Avenue, Chicago police said.
He was very quietly robbing people, LaPierre said. I went up front and said to him, give me the gun and we started fighting for the gun.
With all of the adrenaline in his system, LaPierre said he wasnt thinking about getting shot when he approached the armed robber. Once I got a few feet from him I knew he wasnt going to be able to react fast enough to shoot me.
I was going nuts, he said. When I see someone pull a gun it makes me angry, it makes me really, really angry.
LaPierre said he managed to pry the gun away from the man and was holding onto it with his right hand while maintaining a firm grip on the robber with his left.

These “human beings” and I use the term loosely, deserve the city (rathole) they live in.
I agree with you but it also looks like the gentleman didn’t need any help. I have a strong feeling that the perp really thought he was going to get shot with his own gun.
YUP
They didna see nuffins
Not one Chicago lowlife/Eloi helped.
Not one.
Not one.
Saw a longer version of this the other day. Lady saying please dont make this any worse needs to be slapped. The guy was there to run a marathon.... and he ran it after this event. In the rest of the video he tries to give the gun to the lady telling her to put it on safety and she didnt know how, so another person took it and put it on safety. He tells the guy he is a black belt and can hit him 6 times in under 1 second. He was also a golden gloves champ years ago.
Another example of why you never show people a weapon. If a weapon is necessary use it. Dont wave it around.
I recall some guy saying you won’t like it if I get angry......
More importantly, the gun control laws in place in Illinois FAILED to work to deter crime once again. Public transportation is a “gun free zone.” It is forbidden for anyone to carry firearms aboard a bus or train even those who have qualified to carry concealed weapons.
This is another glaring example of how “gun free zones” do not work and only benefit the criminals.
How so?
Sounds like one frenchman who doesn’t surrender.
Because they lemmings here in Chicago are repeatedly told by the cops and the media to not resist and just surrender their cash and valuables to "stay safe" in the city.
I'm NOT kidding.
Please catch-up with the rest of us: Chicago's gun control laws were overturned more than 7 years ago now. They no longer exist.

There's a reason it's called conceal/carry and many of us who have it ignore the law when it comes to riding public transportation.
If someone sees your weapon on the CTA or Metra, then you're obviously not conceal/carrying properly, I say.
Yes, I ride Metra from the far, far SW Suburbs into Chicago once a week and yes, I conceal/carry while on it.
From Boston....so partly Americanized.

Manhattan?
Dalton (snark)?
Spent 10 years in Homer Glen so I thought I’d rib ya.
Still got my FOID card in my wallet.
“The man in front of me said he could put the safety on, so I handed him the gun and he put the safety on and walked it out of the train,”
I cannot tell from the article, did the gun just walk off and was lost, or did the police get it?
If you’re going to shoot, shoot, don’t talk. Tuco.
“unauthorized use of a weapon” nonsense charges in a nonsensical place.
