Cummings' cause of death: "complications arising from long-standing ill health."
NPR, CNN, CNBC, ABC, etc., etc... | October 17, 2019 | Golux of the Old Pyjama Patrol

A careful monitoring of the media today confirms that Rep. Cummings died from "complications arising from long-standing ill health."

As you wouldn't accept that as a cause of death for a loved one, as a life insurance underwriter would never accept those words to approve a payout, and as a police detective would never accept those inappropriate and vague words from a coroner... What do they mean?

"complications arising from long-standing ill health." Like Napoleon? Al Capone? Lenin? Lincoln?

Just wondering.

Our revered hero who did everything - made so many friends, spoke out, was so corurageous, crossed the aisle, helped people of color according to all the whites in congress - basically did everything but improve the lives of the people he represented...

Why did he die?

68 is actually on the young side these days. I expect to be healthy and still working to at least age 70 (and I'm only 13 years away from that).

I do think that hate and envy are self-destructive emotions and that those who are consumed with hate and envy age a lot faster than others.

Anger was probably a contributing factor. Angry black men don’t live very long.

He wasn’t yet 70 - that’s not old in today’s world...

I was surprised to learn he was 68. To me, he looked like he was at least 80.

I Hope that Jesus knows him.

Amen.

This is a good day as far as I am concerned.

He was a hateful old bigot.

My left knee needs a ‘total replacement’ (that is what I have been told multiple times over the years.)

I have found if I am “knee aware” and careful I never mess up and make it bend weird.

So I hope to never have it replaced either.
I will just be careful.

Have your operation done by a surgeon who has done 1000+ knees and aboiut 200 per year at a good out patient surgery.
mo home the day of surgery and do your PT as directed and follow your directions from the nurse and Physical fitness person each day until they tell you that you until you are okay.
hon’t over do your exercises and do what you are told by your at home recovery team.

We have 3 friends over 80, who had knee surgery. 2 had basically no problems and have no need for followup care after following the doctors post op orders.

One was a good RN, who never listened to any surgeon or post care person re her care. She had to have the knee removed due to a severe infection.

WASH/ PO-—Cummings, 67, was interviewed in his district office in Baltimore.

His head: freshly shaved. His eyes: puffy. His large hands: swollen by gout. He wore big-platformed Velcro sneakers, which he had been shuffling around in all day with the help of a walker.

He endured two painful years.

In 2017, he had been laid up in a Johns Hopkins Hospital bed for two months, crippled by pain after a difficult recovery from a heart valve replacement..............

I have had two knee replaced by two different surgeons, considered to be the best in our state. Both told me that infection was the biggest threat, but they had slightly difference in their approach to the post surgery protocol. I chose a middle course of action, that has worked well out after over 20 years.

Do not mess with Mother Nature on this one.

Well for my previous surgeries on other parts, I have followed all instructions to the letter, so I don’t think I’d have a problem with that part.

And I know that some knee replacement surgeries are successful, otherwise no one would ever have this procedure done.

But I figure as long as I am still able to walk three full grown German Shepherds at the same time, with one of them being a male, my knees must still be in working order.

So long as a squirrel doesn’t run in front of them.

I Hope that Jesus knows him.

I'm sure he does. Heck, Jesus met Satan and even talked with him in the desert.

It says Cummings was 68. I initially though they had transposed the numbers and he was 86. He did not age well.

We always made sure husband didn’t get cadaver knee caps due to high risk of post infection. He has two artificial knees and has them for 9-10 yrs and no infections ever.
