Im not certain, now, but pretty sure that Nixon resigned following the House vote to impeach, and then only when he was also told that they had the votes in the US SENATE, as well, which of course meant his Removal, so therefore, Nixon immediately resigned rather than see the Senate vote for his removal from office.
Cronkite was very convincing in that day, but the electorate is far more sophisticated and savvy to the tactics of the Left and of the media. The ruins of decadence are all around us. I have to believe Americans know who to hold most responsible for it and it isnt going to be President Trump, whether they can crack enough heads together to impeach him, or not.

Correct for the most part. Nixon was not impeached.
There were televised hearings after the House voted to pursue impeachment investigation.
Weak kneed Pubbies told him he needed to resign, because he would be impeached, and he did not have sufficient support to weather the trial-ie likely conviction.
The difference today, is that there has already been 3 votes on pursuing impeachment. The first was in December 2017, and failed by huge margin: 364-58.
The next two were as follows: 356-66 and 285-137. So Pelosi is ignoring those votes, and conducting a sham-POLITBURO style Trial behind closed doors with restricted attendance-only Trump haters allowed.
That’s the way I remember the Nixon drama and how I see today’s Kabuki theater.
