Ignoring the racial details, this is a case of murder. The officer went into the home unannounced and then shot an unarmed woman, who did not pose a threat, to death.

He could have looked her up for priors and any risk factors before going to talk to her. This was not a job for a cop, but a social worker.

Unfortunately, cops are tasked as social workers for “welfare check” calls at 2AM.

He didn't even go inside. He shot her through her window, from outside her house.

It is depressingly frequent how often cops kill people during wellness checks.

This no-knock entry policy - whether a 2 AM raid or wellness check - has to change.
