THE COUNTDOWN for settling Ukraines geopolitical position within Europe and greater Eurasia is entering its final stages. Barring his resignation or removal from office, the denouement will occur under the watch of Ukraines populist-comedian president, Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky and his Servant of the People political movement won an overwhelming mandate from Ukrainian voters in 2019 by promising to succeed where Zelenskys immediate predecessor, Petro Poroshenko, and the Ukrainian political establishment (which was largely voted out of office) had failed: to settle the conflict with Russia while presiding over Ukraines eventual integration into the Euro-Atlantic world. Time, however, is not on his side. Barring a last-minute miracle, Russias longstanding effort to bypass Ukraine as its conduit to Western markets will be completed, while changes in both European and American political priorities and strategic assessments may diminish the importance and relevance of Ukraine as a central component in relations between Russia and the West.
When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Ukraine, the eponymous borderland between Russia and Central Europe, emerged as the principal bellwether of the temperature of relations between Moscow and the West. From the disposition of Ukraines Soviet nuclear weapons legacy to the stability of Russian energy supplies to Western European markets, from the formulation of the European Unions (EU) wider neighborhood policy to the prospect of NATOs eastern enlargement, the health of the Russia-Ukraine relationship could not be separated from the type of partnership Russia could realistically forge with the United States and Europe. Given Ukraines geographic realitiesits northern and eastern borders nestled right up against the soft underbelly of the Russian Federation, and its western marchescourtesy of Josef Stalins postwar shifting of borderscontrolling the access points into the heart of Europeneither Moscow nor NATO could be indifferent to Ukraines ultimate geostrategic alignment.

Ukraine is a corrupt 3rd world country and to think they are behind an American impeachment is a laugh.
Dems have caused irreparable harm to the legitimacy of our Republic and its reputation globally with the neverending coup attempt.
Biden’s son today resigned from the Chinese fund board - a completely transparent payoff scheme to a Vice President and the drug addict was also making $160,000 per month from Ukraine. All that needs a real Congressional investigation and public hearings.
Nothing Trump did was wrong and Dems realize they will lose in 2020. They have terrible candidates and terrible policies.
If Zelensky plays nice with Trump, doesn’t get swamped by the oligarchs, and manages to pass measures that will release the creative potential of his people (Ukrainians are excellent in terms of I.T. and all that jazz) — then they are headed in good direction.
Isn't it odd (and outright vomit worthy) that the most vocal anti-Trump dems happen to represent FAILING California? Which is arguably turning into a 3rd world country, even as places like Ukraine and even Mexico are in an upswing?!
Ukraine and Mexico upswing? LOL. Mexico is run by the cartels and in Ukraine right now Nazis are confiscating crops from farmers. No Russians to blame for another Holodomor this time.
How Zelensky should ‘play nice’ with Trump? These clowns better quit big boys’ games and focus on fixing the country they broke. But it seems like they don’t have plans for it.
Sweetie, I made the point less to highlight the merits of Ukraine and Mexico, and more to highlight just how far gone California is. Ukraine and Mexico's big cities are a LOT more nicely maintained at the moment.
And their airports.

I wouldn’t be that dismissive. Glenn Beck did a good job to explain connection.

I have no idea about Mexico although won’t be surprised. Kiev is changing for worse over last 5 years which is to be expected. The streets are falling apart, storm sewers stopped functioning making city into a lake after rain and tap water available for a couple hours a day. Electricity and gas would be a problem soon.
