I just saw this talked about movie, and I guess my review adds little.
But I have to post it anyway.
From the opening scenes and throughout this movie exhibits extraordinary photography. It's dark, so dark, but so intimate. Old school close-ups of real facial expressions in tune with the drama.
And oh, what drama.
Prepare to join Arthur Fleck as he descends on a heart wrenching, terrifying trip into madness.
Phoenix and the movie are the one's to beat at the Oscars.

Rare.
I HATE missing a movie over one political statement.
But some reviewer said his fall into the abyss started because of a shortage of funds for social workers.
Is that true and is it worth missing the movie over?
Thanks. He is a great actor. Don’t know his persona life at all and don’t want to
“But some reviewer said his fall into the abyss started because of a shortage of funds for social workers.”
Nope. That’s BS from somebody with an ax to grind.
He was way crazy before that.
THANK YOU.
Yeah he did bash the movie through his whole article.
It was a conservative site.
I would have missed it.
Thanks again.
$269 mil in 6 days, on its way to a $1bil showing.

I wouldn’t make too much of that. He was poor, so he was receiving public assistance for his mental issues. He did get his treatment cut, but there was a avalanche of other things that fell on him that led to his transformation from a benign, but troubled, character to the Joker.
I saw it. There are a couple small PC virtue signalling moments. Nothing really outrageous. If you see it in IMAX bring your earplugs.
I saw it with my son on Saturday. I’m still thinking about it.
It is a must see movie.
I recommend the theater to ensure this man gets fully paid for this work of art.
Wow.
Mariner, i dont RECALL the last time I was in a theater.
Used to love the experience but kept having to leave after 10 minutes of propaganda!
I am looking forward to it this weekend.
Thanks again.
” Im still thinking about it.”
Emotionally impactful.
I think I’ll wait until I get the movie on TV. I love comic book super-hero movies, and have seen most. What I don’t like, though, are movies that have no heroes, no good guys.
This movie is NOT a comic book movie.
And you’re right, there are no good guys but there are a few innocents.
I guess I’m surprised to hear that.
I thought this was sort of a prequel to the Batman movies, and showed us the backstory of the Joker character. Is it really deeper than just telling the Joker’s story?
It’s not a typical comic book movie. But it has Thomas Wayne and, I’m not sure, maybe his son Bruce.
The descent into madness rivals White Heat and The Shining.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is on tonight also. I didn't watch it in 74 and have no plans to watch it now.
It shows the killing of Thomas and his wife. Joker didn’t do it. He thinks Thomas Wayne is his father.
And Joker meets Bruce.
I don’t see how DC cannot make a new Batman with Christian Bale and Joaquin Phoenix.
Dark, like the last one Bale did.
It’s impossible they will not.
It’s not demonic.
It’s human madness.
