Can anyone here recommend a good lawyer?

I want to start a class action lawsuit against all the manufacturers of forks. They have made tens of millions of people fat, and caused millions of early deaths due to obesity related problems..

OK, this is a classic from years ago but seems fitting here. Mom cancels kids WOW account. People thought this was real at first and the kid made many more freakout vids on the channel. Even got some TV invites. Perhaps he deserves an Oscar.

One parent claims in the filing that their 10-year-old son has been playing the game almost daily for months and becomes “very frustrated and angry” whenever the parent tries to limit his playing time.

Well hell you are doing it wrong. One, be the adult! Two, Don’t limit the game, take the frigging thing away. Make the youngster earn it back with set time amounts and condition for use. Three again be the parent. If the youngster violate or abuse the rules the game goes into the trash and he can buy ho own when he is old enough!

This is total complete bull crap

my kids are nine and 12 and they were in this game for about a year and I kept asking him “hey when are you guys going to be over this?”

and they got over it about six months ago

don’t even play anymore now

and are in the Pokémon they chase a little Pokémon’s around the neighborhood with your iPhones in groups of like 10 kids

much better because now they’re outside

fortnight is actually a pretty cool game and there was a lot of socialization involved

I’ve played it. The ‘building’ part of the game really sucks, IMO.

I play video games (as you might be able to tell from my handle) but I also do other things like read books, do martial arts and go swimming. If you cannot handle an activity without becoming addicted and doing it too much, it says more about your flawed charectar than it does about whatever it is that you get addicted too.

Back then games where dumb and simplistic, neither Quake nor doom had any plot to speak of. The single player ones are a lot more sophisticated, and often have a plot that puts them on a par with some films. The best game I’ve played over the last few years was Alien: Isolation. As gamers grew up, the games had to grow up with them. There is nothing wrong with enjoying games, as long as you don’t spend every waking moment playing them, this is where they are going wrong, and of course, the parents are at fault for being too spineless to get a handle on their kids.

Google “digital cocaine” and you will see how this stuff is intentionally being developed to addict you. By the same folks who develop gambling machines.

Hear, hear. I did a little Red Baron in there, as well. I finally gave it up when I defeated Wolfenstein and went fishing.

This is ridiculous. I grew up with almost everything from Intelevision to XBox One, and I don’t care who you are, it’s not physiologically addictive. People get sucked in and don’t realize how much time has passed, so it happens, but the number of people who endure a constant need for the feeling of success one gets from making accomplishments in a game will try to get their attention fix anywhere. They’ll seek it out anywhere they can.

When it comes to kids, limit screen time. It’s that simple.

When my dad was in college in the forties the game that got students addicted was Bridge. Apparently caused more than a few to flunk out.

When I was in college in 1970 we had a group play Hearts all day and all night. Some of them flunked out too. They just couldn’t walk away from the table and go to class.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I play video games too. I also have a farm and a life. The games are just something to keep me occupied when the weather is miserable outside.

My grandparents played Skip-bo for hours on end during bad weather. I play Everquest. So what?

When any one thing hijacks your entire life, at the expense of the necessary parts, it’s time to take a long, hard look in the mirror. Because that’s where you’ll find the person responsible.
