TV shows will have to meet a series of diversity requirements to be eligible for Bafta awards under new rules. The BFI Diversity Standards, which cover race, gender and sexual orientation among other categories, are already part of the criteria for Bafta's film awards and are now being extended to cover small-screen productions. The rules will be piloted in Bafta's TV awards next year and will be fully introduced in 2021, the academy said. In addition, Bafta committees and jury members are receiving training in 'unconscious bias' in an effort to promote diversity.

But a program like “Till Death Do Us Part” would not be able to be made due to too many sensitive ears today, lol. I remember being told that when I suggested in a discussion elsewhere about our local PBS outlet bringing back a classic series like that to replace boring Lawrence Welk episodes.
And Brits pay a boob tube tax for this...

Well, we can always order the DVDs of I Claudius, Poldark (original 1976 series), Onedin Line, The Duchess of Duke Street, and other BBC made classics.
“Diversity” can also mean having the option to view programming from diverse sources that aren’t subject to these stupid rules.
Of course, the next step would be to deny access to any material that isn’t approved by the diversity review board, and arrest anyone who attempts to bypass the controls.

It just came to me, when you spoke of the BBC... I just remembered the first time I heard the “F” word on TV.. It was on PBS.. Government TV.! A stage play called “The Gin Game”.. And the first time I heard it on the big screen it was Barbara Streisand saying it...
I wish them luck in their virtue signaling. I have given up on almost all of entertainment these days. I’ve had my fill for more than a lifetime. Time to focus on other pursuits.
I’m so glad I got rid of my TV years ago.
