EUREKA A 9-year-old has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder in connection with a lethal mobile-home fire in April near Goodfield.
The juvenile also has been charged with two counts of arson and one count of aggravated arson, Woodford County States Attorney Greg Minger said.
The identity of the suspect was not revealed, given that persons age. Minger would not reveal additional details about the suspect, including a possible relationship to the victims.
Mingers decision to prosecute came almost exactly six months following the blaze April 6 that killed two adults and three children in a residence at Timberline Mobile Home Park.

What the what?
If she set the fire then she must face the consequences.
What.. you think they should give her ice cream and tell her she was naughty?
It’s a he and I’m just shocked he is 9 and doing this crap!
Surprise surprise. This kid must’ve watched “The Mick” on Netflix.
The aunt gives the 9 y/o nephew a lighter because he likes fire. Hmm, then the 9 y/o burns the house down.
I’m guessing this is a real life example of the story Abe Lincoln used to tell about a kid who did this to his family and then threw himself at the mercy of the court because he was an orphan and homeless.
I imagine the child will be charged as a juvenile, though. Unless, I missed something.
I know nothing about this case.
Is it just me or when we were 9 years old kids did not do stuff like this?
Half way between Bloomington and Peoria, IL, off I-74
True enough, but first-degree murder charges for a 9 year-old? I think the psychologists will be coming out of the woodwork to testify that child that young couldn't possibly have the mental capacity to develop intent.
There has to be some pathology at work there for a child to do what she did.
At that age he will be sent to Juvie till hes 21and then cut loose. Question is if that happens will he murder again?
Shades of The Bad Seed
Did the 9 yr old watch Television?
Maybe she's just an evil little witch.
Yes I’ve heard of “the bad seed” but still I don’t remember kids burning down their home and killing everyone in it when I was 9 years old.
Most kids I played with when I was 9 was thinking of skateboards and summer camp not arson and homicide.
“Woodford County States Attorney Greg Minger did not reveal any possible relations to the victims, but did refer to the suspect as a he. “
Probation, given the age, is about the only outcome that could happen here, he said.
If you think a 9 year old, remotely understands actions and consequences.. even if they did this act intentionally... I highly question how much time you have spent around children.
First Degree Murder implies premeditation and intent and malice of forethought. I don’t know what evidence the DA has, but I think that’s going to be a very very tough standard to meet.
He, She, Tranny McFee.... kid needs charged and put away or ended.
My younger brother, now deceased, was professionally diagnosed as a ‘sociopath’ at age 12. He had been constantly in and out of juvenile ever since he could basically ride a bicycle. I grew up in constant fear of him when he was home and not in juvenile or jail. He was an evil person from the crib.
As an adult he spent time in prison for violent crime, was a gigolo in South Florida bilking old ladies out of money and died of a drug overdose at age 50....................
Having BEEN a 9 year old, I certainly knew that burning people up would kill them when I was that age.
Were you developmentally disabled and unable to grasp such concepts at the age of 9?
