If the back of your Hair went over the Collar of your Shirt when I was in High School, you were sent to see the Boy’s Vice Principal.

Yes, I am that old.

And the sign said “Long-haired freaky people need not apply”
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said “You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you’ll do”
So I took off my hat, I said “Imagine that. Huh! Me workin’ for you!”
Whoa-oh-oh

Does he stand at attention for the National Anthem?

Hahahahaaaa. I can see you’re a funny guy. That’s good.

I think the more attention to grooming, means less time to concentrate on your athleticism. Professional athletes are gladiators. At that level don’t think your hair length makes much difference.

At any level of the sport, hormones flying, so I get the macho thing to attract the ladies and scare your opponent. There are exceptions, but I think in general the young athlete who concentrates more on his conditioning, preparation and practice rather than “the look” is more effective.

It’s not just hair, almost every high school and college athlete has more than one tattoo. Why is that? Like I said, it appeals to the ladies, you’re copying the pros, it’s a way of putting fear into your opponent. Who knows.

My impression is that these things are fads, and come and go. Generally it looks now like the dreads are on the out.

In summary, I don’t really know what is fact and fiction, related to the cosmetics, but I think it would be a good area to research.

Probably, in reality performance in football is unrelated to hair length and ornamentation, but funny how you virtually NEVER see professional basketball players with long or artificial hair. A few in baseball, in the past, but hardly any now.

Certainly not worth getting your underwear all bunched up over the whole thing.

Why do you have such a short fuse today? We need to have a beer together.

I feel the same about CHRIS ARCHER and JOSH BELL of the Pittsburgh Pirates NBL.. I like the boys, but their hair is disgusting looking and I feel it affects their playing...

The people are old fools who think their $100 donation and season tickets mean something. They don’t.

I’m tired of it

Dreads hanging down to the waist

It’s silly me me me me preening so common to black players

Not all but many

Lord they make one decent play and dance around like the rain just broke the drought over the yams patch

I watched a pro game Sunday briefly where the defensive back missed his defense of the pass yet was able to tackle the receiver after the receiver made the first down

Celebrating a tackle for a reception he should have stopped

Man...where Vince Lombardi ...

Nick Saban is one of the few coaches that players fear...nowadays

He’ll chew em out for silliness

Those nasty “I wanna be the Predator” look is just dumb. I, too, would allow hair tackles.

Yep, hair tackles. And watch crew cuts come back in style in 3 days.

Thing is, the guy is a Defensive Back, if he has three interceptions a year, tries to advance a recovered fumble or is a kick or punt returner (which he isn’t) he’s not in danger of getting tackled by his “dreads”.
It’s a disgusting, dis-respectful, filthy look, celebrated by a school much further in love with their own fake virtue, than reality.

I am not sure it’s filthy or disgusting. You may not like it; I am not really a fan of the look-but it’s certainly not filthy.

If the coaches are OK with it, I don’t care.

I certainly would not take a second to write a letter bitching about it.

“We strongly condemn this message or any message of intolerance.”

Oh what a bunch of posturing pretentious babies!

Penn State can take their arrogant holier-than-thou (not to mention God’s gift to football) attitudes and shove it where the sun don’t shine.

No, she meant he NOW has “wrinkles” to his bare SKIN like a Shar-Pei because way in the PAST he was like a Komondor/Puli.

‘I’ll bet he wrote it himself.’

the school says they can’y verify the ‘authenticity’
of the letter; what, they can’t simply ask one of their alums if he really wrote it...? weasel wording that leaves more questions than it answers...FWIW, I think it’s a real letter from an old timer letting his tongue do his thinking...

That is also a realistic possibility.
