I'll have to dig, but I was under the impression that the NYPD served the initial warrant for Weiner's electronic devices since it started as a State case. They seized at least one laptop from their apartment, and then he turned in other devices to the Granite lawyers who 'held' them for a while and then passed them to the FBI once they asked for them.

The NYPD and State authorities opened the initial investigation, then the US Attorney's Office and FBI took over the case when it went across state lines. At least that's my take.

I can't find a source at the moment for the NYPD search warrant, but here's some background from when the case first broke.

I chased that story to hell and back. Interwebs only. I contacted newspaper people\internet reporters\NYPD.
I filed a NY version of FOIA and they told me to take a hike, however they did say they couldn't cause of an on-going investigation.

The first and only resource is TruePundit then Erik Prince a day or so later in a radio interview saying the same thing TruePundit reported.
All other reports about NYPD & Weiners laptop refers back to these 2 stories.

I chased all the reports of NYPD quotes from chiefs and detectives being sick to their stomachs etc.. to no avail.
I have all the Feds warrants and narratives\affidavits for the warrants, not one mention of NYPD.

The IG report of June 2018 - not one mention of NYPD. So, with said, I will take anything you got.
