I think that it all being canned is kind of cool, but this was before they figured out that cans are heavy and take up a lot of room. Three days worth would be a load.

What is the big deal? In 67-69 we ate plenty of C’s dated lat 1944 or so. Did not harm anyone, though some choices sucked. The later stuff was a lot better for choice.

Give the makers credit, the stuff lasted for over twenty years.
